Gatehouse is an independent school for girls and boys aged 3 to 11 in London’s East End. Housed in a recently renovated Victorian building and set in landscaped grounds which include climbing frames and an Astroturf sports court. The site is alongside the 20 acres of Victoria Park and the Regent’s Canal.

At Gatehouse we aim to provide children with a caring and supportive learning environment, developing and encouraging each child’s abilities and helping them to build an excellent foundation for life and work. Classes are non-streamed, and of mixed ability throughout all age ranges. From age seven up, children are subject taught by highly qualified specialist staff as well as having their own dedicated form teacher.

Children of any race, colour, creed, background and intellect shall be accepted as pupils and work side by side, without streaming or any kind of segregation, with the aim that each child shall get to know and love God, and to develop their own uniqueness of personality, to enable them to appreciate the world and the world to appreciate them.

The school moved to its present site in the mid-1970s, where Christian values and principles still form the backbone to school life. Gatehouse sets out to provide the best education possible for children, establishing a modern outlook on primary education while ensuring that it retains the key values on which it was first founded. We believe parental support is linked with school achievement, and we are always happy to meet with you to discuss your child and look forward very much to meeting you when you come to visit.

At Gatehouse we offer a wide variety of extra-curricular activities during lunch time or after school to encourage your child’s passions and interests – everything from football to chess, to yoga and dance, Art and gardening. Clubs are weekly and vary in terms of length. They are charged per term, although it is worth noting that they are unlikely to occur in the first week or last week of each term. Some clubs are likely to fill up quicker than others, in which case a waiting list will operate.

Children at Gatehouse are all valued as individuals and develop an excellent approach to academic work, achieving high standards throughout the school. Our independent approach to learning ensures that all of our children acquire a determination to enjoy every opportunity and learn to give of their best in all that they do. inclusive ethos supported by a dedicated and extremely talented team of staff who ensure each child’s natural curiosity about the world is expanded and encouraged.
