Thank you for your interest in Gatehouse School, an independent school in Bethnal Green, East London, welcoming children aged 3 to 11.
Whether you’re moving to the area, starting your child’s nursery journey, looking for a new school, or already part of the local community, we are delighted to receive your application.
Our Admissions Manager, Sue Townsend, is always happy to help and guide you through the process. You can speak with her directly by phone, email or in person meeting:
Entry to Nursery
The main point of entry to Gatehouse School is in our Nursery class. Children may join in the September following their third birthday.
All children in Nursery automatically move into Reception the following year. As a result, Reception places are not typically open for external application. Any enquiries for Reception will be added to our Waiting List.
To book a private tour or register your interest for any of the above years, please contact our Admissions Office.
Occasional Places (Years 1–6)
From time to time, we have places available in other year groups (Years 1–6). These are known as occasional places.
If you are interested in a place in the Lower or Upper Juniors, please contact the Admissions Manager to check current availability.
Why Choose Gatehouse?
Gatehouse School is a non-selective independent preparatory school, located beside Victoria Park in East London. Our main entry point is the Nursery, where children are welcomed from the age of 3. Most pupils remain with us until Year 6, moving on to a wide range of leading independent, grammar, and state schools.
Due to high demand, early registration is strongly recommended. Occasionally, places do become available in other year groups.
Choosing a school is a significant decision, and our Admissions Team is here to support you every step of the way. Below is a simple guide to our admissions process.
Step 1: Visit Us
We encourage families to attend one of our Open Mornings or book a private tour. This provides an opportunity to explore the Nursery, experience life at Gatehouse, and discuss your child’s needs with our team.
