Good Shepherd Lutheran College is a Prep to Year 12 College located in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. Established in 1986 by the Lutheran Church, the College currently has around 1000 enrolments and is part of Lutheran Education Queensland.
The College is also home to Little Lambs Early Learning Centre which caters for pre-Kindy and Kindy placements for children aged 3 to 5 years old. In addition, the College also offers an Outside School Hours Care and Vacation Care service. The OSHC program is located centrally within the College grounds and operates for after school care.
The College also boasts state-of-the-art facilities including a swimming pool, HPE Centre, Theatrette, tennis and basketball courts and chapel which are also available to hire to the local community. Travel to Good Shepherd is also made easy as the College operates its own private bus service available on either a permanent or casual basis.
Over the years, we have achieved excellent outcomes in standardised testing such as NAPLAN, University of New South Wales testing, as well as outstanding Year 12 OP results. Our students have also had great success in academic based competitions such as Tournament of Minds, robotics and debating. While we recognise that not all achievements can be measured through testing and competitions, we are keen to encourage those students who are interested in pursuing these opportunities.
At Good Shepherd, we understand and acknowledge the importance of supporting our gifted and talented students. Junior Years offers a Gifted and Talented Program with weekly extension classes of around four to five students, with extra literacy and numeracy lessons as well as a ‘Thinking Skills Program’. Students are selected by their classroom teacher, and extension classes are prepared and taught by the Head of Junior Years.
The Middle Years is a key time in a student’s schooling. Between the ages of ten and fourteen, children grow and develop more rapidly than any other developmental stage during their educational life. Our Middle Years program is designed to cater for this time of developmental change.
The Senior Years at Good Shepherd are designed to empower students to realise their potential in a range of flexible and individualised pathways. Each student has the potential and capacity to enrich their work through the development of their gifts and abilities. We strive to tailor quality and authentic learning experiences to bring these gifts and abilities into fruition.
