Living in todays global world has become very challenging in this age of emerging technologies where education and research pave the way for socio-economic development of all developed nations. The importance of knowledge and education has been the fundamental focus of our "deen" - Islam as this "Hadeith" of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasis "seek knowledge from cradle to grave", yet we have been lagging behind many developing countries of the world in educating and learning. The opportunities of Higher Education among female folks of our country and especially in Southern Punjab have been seriously deficient over the years. However, the inception of Government Sadiq College Women University (GSCWU) is a right step by the Govt. of Punjab. As the saying goes; "You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a women; you educate a generation."The challenge ahead, is to develop GSCWU into a world class seat of higher learning. Where education and research will go hand in hand to equip the young girls of Pakistan with state of the art technologies and innovative skills that will provide them a competitive edge in grabbing job opportunities and leading enterprises of their own to provide jobs for others.
To this end, the priorities are to induct and develop highly qualified and trained faculty in all the existing and emerging disciplines of sciences, engineering, information technology, management science, and humanities. Similarly, the civil infrastructure, computational facilities, and scientific laboratories are certainly the priority areas for further development of this institution as per world class standards. No stone will be left unturned in grooming and personality development of our graduates, so that they can be full of physical energy, intellectual strength, and ethical values. For strengthening and economic empowerment of women in this relatively underdeveloped area of Pakistan, special focus is going to be directed towards the establishment of technology incubators and entrepreneurial development centres.
As an emerging university in southern Punjab, The Govt. Sadiq College Women University aims to provide quality education to empower women through knowledge and skills so as to participate actively in the socio-economic development of Pakistan; as well as to impact the attitudes and behaviors of its graduates through various programs and initiatives to emerge as responsible, peaceful and tolerant citizens of the world.
To prepare dynamic women leaders and practitioners in teaching, research and management having content excellence, pedagogical competence, commitment and integrity who may ensure quality and sustainable development of Pakistan in general and south Punjab in particular.
