Greenfields School

Greenfields School is an Independent Preschool, Infant, Junior and Senior School set on the edge of the Ashdown Forest in East Sussex, England. Our Preschool takes children from the age of 3 years, moving on to Reception and then Infants and Juniors. Our Senior School then takes your child through to Sixth Form where they would take their A-Levels. We are a Private Boarding School offering a boarding facility on-site which accommodates students from age 10 (Year 6) through to 18 years.

Our boarding staff are friendly and care for your child as part of our family. Greenfields also offer English as a Second language either as a long-term student or a six-month programme. We have run this program for many years and are known worldwide for our success in this area. We also offer ‘Taster Weeks’ should your child wish to try boarding before committing to enrolling at the school.

The School motto at Greenfields is “Education for Life”.  What exactly does that mean?  Probably a lot more than you may think. Most schools in the world lack a vital component in the field of education–namely Study Technology.  This is not just a nice thing to have.  It is a vital technology that enables an individual to study in such a way that they can understand and apply the data they are studying.  Furthermore, they can retain this data throughout life.  So an education at Greenfields is not just something you have to endure and get through and then leave behind at the School.

It is a fantastic experience of acquiring knowledge, understanding, and ways of doing things that sets one up for life.  At Greenfields, we teach students how to be students.  In other words, how to go about the job of effective learning. Mr Hubbard wrote,  “As long as children and young men and women find pleasure in study, they will continue studying throughout life–and upon that depends their happiness.” It is the Study Technology which makes study itself a pleasurable and worthwhile experience

Greenfields is a local and international Day and Boarding School. We are a non-selective, non-denominational, mixed school welcoming students between the ages of 3 and 18 years. The school is located in Forest Row, near East Grinstead, Sussex. It was founded in 1981 by Educator, Margaret Hodkin.

Aims
The purpose of the School is:To provide an education that prepares its students for life, where study seems desirable, and the world of knowledge is open to them.

To provide an education that teaches its students to think and has fostered their self-determinism and initiative and where their individuality, knowingness, native ambitions, intelligence, ability, and drive have been preserved, and where their basic purpose has been increased and reinforced, all to achieve a high level of survival in life, where they can accomplish the actions of their chosen profession, professionally
