Hanoi Academy International Bilingual School is a K-12 campus based in Hanoi where the education focus is “Creating Global Citizens”. We are the first bilingual school is Hanoi and have been in operation since 2009. At Hanoi Academy, students have the opportunity to immerse in both international and Vietnamese programs of study. After a successful opening run with the Australian Queensland curriculum, the school made a strategic decision to switch its pedagogical focus into the British National Curriculum to allow for better amalgamation with the simultaneously run Vietnamese National Curriculum and more tertiary education opportunities for our students.
Despite the change in academic programs, our goal of ensuring quality, commitment and culture remains constant throughout the years.
Pivotal to increasing and maintaining education quality is our staff. There are currently 30 international full-time teachers who are fully qualified with years of teaching experience. Our domestic staff include teachers delivering Vietnamese curriculum and English-speaking teaching assistants, all of whom are qualified and trained in Education background.
We realise high quality education must be accompanied by high quality infrastructure and services. Our facilities are designed and constructed with a sole purpose in mind: to provide a safe and immersive learning environment that can fully accommodate various types of learning routines, skills-acquiring activities and physical exercises.
Our strategic choice of delivering the licenced British national curriculum across all ages from pre-school to year 12 establishes clear and flexible academic pathways for all of our students. This, coupled with our active guidance programs, ensure smooth transitions between age groups and orientation of their future learning as well as professional careers.
Not only a deliverer of the UK national programs of study, Hanoi Academy is honoured to be an Edexcel Approved Centre [link] (no. 93708), which can provide Edexcel examinations and qualifications. This is a seamless integration to our core programs of study, in which students are taught, assessed and certified to reach international parity.
Since its establishment in 2009, Hanoi Academy has been developing and improving its global citizen culture, which entails global awareness, the ability to think beyond territorial boundaries and participation in building a sustainable future. We aim for this culture to be further established and integrated within our body of students, staff and management.
Since the history of mankind, communities have been formed by people who share similar values and practices. We are proud to be national citizens who are born within the territory of our countries, and have a well-informed understanding of our national values regarding morality, society and history.
However, being assessed on a global scale, the uniformity of these values is much less significant due to geographical, linguistic, economical and religious divides. Such discrepancies are barriers to the fulfilment of the “Global citizenship” concept that we all hear so much about these days, and in turn pose important questions: “who are global citizens and what are their roles?”
The increasingly connected world is turning all of us into global citizens before we even know it, and whether we want it or not. The real question here is do we accept this fact actively or passively? Drivers such as globalization, the development of information technology and global communications require each of us to correspondingly change our approach to problem solving and play a more active role in dealing with global issues. When the locally confined thinking has proved obsolete, people with the skills, knowledge, vision and mind for worldwide integration will undoubtedly be global elites.
The aforementioned barriers are there to be overcome by active global citizens whose roles are to jointly build a better world by researching and working on ways to make contribution to alleviating international issues including, but not limited to humanity, poverty and equality. Recognizing this, educators now have to fulfill an important mission of nurturing individuals who possess said qualities for a sustainable future. With a unique academic philosophy continually cultivated from research and practice, experienced staff and teachers and equipped with unrivalled infrastructure, Hanoi Academy are up for this mission.
