At Hartley we want our children to be both happy and successful. We have high expectations of our pupils and wish them to be successful life-long learners. On behalf of the children, staff and governors it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our website. We are very proud of our school and we hope that our website gives you a taste of what makes us so special. Hartley is a happy and inclusive primary school and we welcome children and families from a range of backgrounds. We are lucky to have a dedicated and supportive staff team who work very hard to provide the best opportunities for all our children in a safe and happy school environment.

"Hartley's commitment is to instil confidence in all pupils to achieve their very best and become successful lifelong learners." As a school we will:

  • Cater for the needs of all pupils
  • Challenge, excite and promote positive attitudes - develop a 'growth-mindset'
  • Draw on and value the religious, cultural and ethnic diversity of all our learners
  • Encourage children to be independent and to take ownership of their learning
  • Provide a purposeful environment where every child discovers their own potential and love of learning
  • Equip our pupils with the ability to acquire the skills they need for the rapidly evolving world in which they live

Hartley Values are

  • Be Safe
  • Be Ready
  • Be Respectful
  • Be Proud

These are values for the whole school community that we will all work hard to embed and be successful. The children have been learning about each of the values in class and how they can demonstrate them. We are also developing behaviour consistencies for everyone to follow. They are:

  • Silent lines when moving around the school
  • Hands up signal to get attention
  • Meet and greet handshake

Safeguarding describes the actions taken to promote the welfare and development of children and protect them from harm, abuse or maltreatment. Child Protection is also a part of safeguarding and refers to the activity that is undertaken to protect specific children who are suffering, or are likely to suffer, significant harm. Safeguarding and child protection guidance and legislation applies to all children up to the age of 18.

Staff, Volunteers, Students and Governors at Hartley Primary School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children. Through our curriculum we teach children to stay safe and happy. We endorse the understanding that any problem or worry that they may have is legitimate, and encourage children to share their concerns with a trusted adult. Robust safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at Hartley. This means that all concerns are passed through trained designated members of staff responsible for safeguarding and child protection.

Nice school. Teachers are helpful on subjects and they deal with bullies well.

I went to this school but left 6 years ago in year one. Wish I could go back there.

I was there from the late 60's and only have very happy memories from my time there. I was in the infants and juniors. Very happy times....I wish I had a time machine xx

It's a good school, it was my first ever school and I enjoyed it while I could. Many of my REALLY close friends still go there to this day :)
