Hartpury was established after World War II as an agricultural education centre with only 50 students. Today, we have more than 4,500 with record numbers of students studying at both the university and the college.

Hartpury remained relatively unchanged until 1990, when a new Principal initiated a rapid expansion programme, starting with the provision of a larger variety of college courses.

The first higher education degree in Equine Studies was introduced in 1992, followed by the first degree programme in Equine Science in 1994. In 1999, the first Masters degree programme opened with the first PhD student coming in 2004.

In 2017, Hartpury was granted ‘Taught Degree Awarding Powers’ (TDAP) and we will award our own degrees from September 2018. This provides us with the independence to grow and further strengthen our higher education offering.

Hartpury has had the acorn as its symbol for over 20 years. More than just a reflection of the beautiful countryside that surrounds us, it symbolises the potential that lies within us all.

Hartpury provides everything the acorn will need to grow - the best facilities, the best staff, and the best environment to support students’ ability to grow strong.

At Hartpury College in Gloucestershire, the combination of rigorous academics and attentive staff has propelled my child to new heights—it's a truly transformative experience!

Absolutely useless university. Disgusted with the care of students. Nothing but drugs and lack of student wellbeing and safety. Appalling student care and head warden Jake laughs in students faces when they raise their concerns. More worried about their reputation than the welfare of students. Not a safe campus for any human or even animal after the incident a few months back after a fox cub was beaten to death my students.. oh and also the wardens cat that students killed!

My Child attends Hartpury College currently and has informed me about the various drug movements around the campus, and how the staff chose to ignore this, my son has told me the system is bias and takes little action when it comes to repetitive drug offenders. He used an example of a young lady who has had 2 incidents and I believe she has continued her habits on campus with a handful of other students. I intend to withdraw my son from this institution soon as I see it as a dangerous environment!

My son is taking his A-Levels at this college. The effort by this college to transfer from home to living away is no less than A***. The animals are kept in a very good state and the facilities are second to none. I cant thank the college enough for the facilities for my son to continue practicing football as well as play football.

Very poor lessons. Farm is appalling, animals kept in poor facilities, and in poor condition. Not a great way to show the future how to farm! lectures don't care what so ever. very poor college would not recommend.

Only good thing about this place is the social life, lecturers don't teach and when they try to its all wrong. Complete waste of precious time and money.

Students and staff are not safe with these animal killers around. They just get to finish their degree from home, even when a staff member's cat is killed by these psychos. No lessons learnt. No criminal record. Disgraceful.

Students notorious for murdering animals. They heartlessly post the twisted videos on their social medias. And Hartpury is doing nothing about it. Shameful..

What an appalling organisation this must be if the students are encouraged to torture and kill wildlife and domestic pets. This 'college' appears to support barbaric acts of cruelty from psychopathic students.

This college allows the killing of innocent animals, and thinks them saying "we will not condone this act" is good enough. Hope you get a lawsuit..
