We are a fantastic full primary school situated on a terraced hillside overlooking the Helensville district and the Kaipara River. Are we biased? Of course! To be a part of Helensville School means to fall in love with the vibrant, friendly children, the passionate, dedicated staff and the supportive local community.
Helensville Primary School is a leading New Zealand primary school which provides a safe, friendly environment, where students and teachers are learning focussed.
We highly value the contributions students and families from different countries can bring to our school community. With only a small number of International Students, Helensville School is able to provide a highly personal learning and pastoral care programme for our International Students, and ensure each of our International Students settle quickly and take advantage of the wide range of programmes and activities Helensville Primary School has to offer.
Helensville Primary School is a signatory to the Code of Practice and accepts fee-paying International Students for short and long term visits. All students are placed in a class at their level and are encouraged and supported to participate in the full school curriculum and all activities as a valued member of the class. Students will be withdrawn daily for specialised English tuition.
Today the school is a community which knows it is here to provide the best possible learning environment for all of its members. We have a purpose and the Board of Trustees, the staff, the parents and the children work alongside one another to engage with the New Zealand Curriculum in a way which is meaningful and relevant for the children of Helensville School.
The school grounds are situated on Maori land gifted to the community in the nineteenth century for the purpose of education. The school celebrated its 125th jubilee in 2002.
As educators, we know we have influence on young lives. We are continually reflecting on what we do so that we refine and improve our practice for the benefit of our students. As our fine school continues to grow and go from strength to strength, we remain committed to preparing our learners to take up their place in the future, having the knowledge, skills and attributes which will see them confident and equipped to do so.
Our vision is to be a school where we know what it is to be a learner. When students leave Helensville School we want them to be:
To enable classes to begin work as soon as the new school year commences we are asking parents to purchase their child’s stationery during the holidays. The school office holds a small amount in stock should you need to buy from us.
Our school is part of the Kaipara Schools Sports Cluster and the North West Schools. This provides our students with opportunities to compete at a higher level to improve their skills, try new sports and create links with students from our area. The Kaipara Sports Days cater for Year 5-8 students and the North West Sports Days are primarily for intermediate aged students (Year 7 & 8), occasionally Year 5 & 6 students are invited to compete in certain sports.
