Heolgerrig is a modern, well equipped community school within the county of Merthyr Tydfil. Heolgerrig is a school that continually strives for excellence and sets high expectations for all pupils, aiming to provide them with the very best opportunities and experiences and a happy and enjoyable time whilst they learn and grow at school realising our motto of working together enjoying learning.

As a rights respecting school, we recognise and value the diversity in all pupils and realise that every child has different skills and talents and respect and promote their rights. At heolgerrig we constantly aim to improve working together and learning from one another as well as our community around us. We seek to engage all in our learning journey, improving as a learning community pupils, parents, governors, staff and the wider community moving forward together to provide the best possible opportunities for our pupils within a supportive and stimulating learning environment.

We endeavour to involve our parents and community in the life of the school wherever possible and to keep you well informed of your childs progress. We operate an open-door policy and welcome you into school to discuss any concerns or problems. If you wish to see the class teacher, you may be able to do this informally at the beginning or end of the school day.

Heolgerrig is a predominately English medium community primary school and currently has 239 pupils between the ages of three and eleven. At present it has a full time nursery and seven classes from reception to year six, some of which are mixed ages.
