For decades Christian schools in local communities across Ontario have provided an opportunity for Christian parents to give their children a Christ-centered, Biblically based education. These schools, spawned out of local churches 40 or 50 years ago have developed into truly dynamic, interdenominational Christian learning centers. Christian families are attracted from the spectrum of church denominations and most communities across Southern Ontario have at least one Christian elementary school.
These schools are labeled as independent. Independence means that the schools are not controlled or funded by Federal, Provincial, or local government. Christian schools are owned and operated by legally formed local associations of Christian parents and other interested members of the Christian community. These local associations are not-for-profit corporations and are registered charities.
The HCCS Society members elect the HCCS Board and approve its annual budget and decisions at two annual meetings. The Board hires the staff that oversee the daily operations of the school.
The Heritage Community Christian School was established in 1960 in the village of Athens. It was formerly known as Athens Christian School and adopted the name HCCS when it relocated to New Dublin.
