Everyone at High View is committed to giving our children the very best start in life. We have a clear set of school values, which underpin this. They are Respect, Aspiration, Kindness, Community, Resilience and Achievement. Our core values at high view school are at the heart of our teaching is We believe that establishing a culture of respect and kindness for others develops a strong sense of community; We nurture resilience and aspiration through children and staff working collaboratively. You will see these values around our school and they are woven into lessons and learning. They help our children develop as confident learners and to become the best that they can be.

Our mission is:

  • Provide a learning environment based on our values of respect, aspiration, community, kindness, resilience and collaboration to develop attitudes that prepare children well for life.
  • Teach a relevant, purposeful, enjoyable and inspiring curriculum which engages children and develops aspirational learners.
  • To nurture high self-esteem, confidence and pride in our achievements.
  • To build a positive partnership between children, staff, Governors, parents and the local community recognising that everyone has a valuable contribution and can learn from each other.

The curriculum at High View is rich and inspiring, with a broad range of experiences and opportunities. Core subjects of maths, English, science and P.E. are complemented by a topic-based approach to other subject areas including geography, history, computing and religious education. We are also very lucky to have specialist teachers for art, PE, Spanish and music.

We aim to educate the whole child in order to enable them to reach their potential. Pupil wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. Our indoor and outdoor classrooms provide a calm and stimulating environment where our children are encouraged to explore, discover and question through a range of exciting learning opportunities. We work in partnership with parents/carers and the wider community to ensure the success of our children.

Weekly parent workshops enable families to understand more about specific topics, such as how we teach maths, or issues such as e-safety. Half-termly parent forums give parents and carers the opportunity to ask any questions and to have their say, and each term there is an open morning when parents/carers are invited into the classroom to take part in their children’s learning. Three parents evenings a year enable a more detailed conversation about your child's progress.

We believe that children deserve the best possible chances in life and that they learn best when there are strong links between home and school. The school also has a strong relationship with the ‘Friends of High View’, a charity run by our fantastic parents and carers, promoting collaboration and community spirit whilst raising money to support our pupils.

High View has both before- and after-school wrap-around care. Breakfast Club begins at 7.50 and After School Care ends at 6pm. The clubs provide both healthy meals and structured play in support of our daytime curriculum. Children in wrap-around care have full access to our library, e-learning software, P.E equipment and a wide range of games and toys. This service, which is priced competitively, is very popular with parents/carers working in the local area and commuting into central London.

Our after-school clubs provide enrichment with a variety of extra-curricular activities, ranging from martial arts to learning the guitar. These change on a termly basis to give children the opportunity to try out different things. We try to keep costs low to encourage as many children as possible to have a go at something new or to access an activity they really enjoy.

Specialist teachers and instructors deliver music, physical education and the teaching of Spanish. All core subject leaders are given training and opportunity to keep developing their own subject knowledge, skills and understanding so they can support curriculum development and their colleagues throughout the school. Theme weeks, whole school activities and opportunities within and outside school all enrich and develop the children’s learning. After school clubs and school events extend these opportunities further. Additional whole school programmes and approaches support quality teaching and learning. The school is continually improving its resources in terms of learning materials, books and technology.

Pupils have opportunities to share their learning with each other, their parents and carers and other learners through school-based and exhibitions, performances, competitions and events involving other schools. Developing their independence and motivation as learners and their sense of responsibility as future citizens is at the heart of all our teaching and learning.

Good school. My daughter loves it here. The early years teachers have been fantastic. There is a friendly atmosphere and a good range of after school clubs available.

I am absolutely delighted by my child's experience at this school; he has attended the school's nursery and he's now in reception, he absolutely loves going to school and its the after school clubs. The school is constantly improving, the head teacher is extremely proactive and enthusiastic making sure the improvements are tangible. The rest of the staff also seems to have the same positive approach and the pupils do seem happy, safe and settled. All in all the school feels like a happy and safe place for the children and the voice of the parents is always welcome and appreciated. It would be nice if more and more parents gave their support to the school and got involved with the school's initiatives.

I am very pleased with the school. My daughter is in her early years: she has attended nursery and now we're towards the end of the year of reception. She is doing very well and I am happy to see that teachers give her tasks tailored to her needs and capability keeping her challenged at the same time. I've seen the school constantly improving in these 2 years, from the facilities available for the children to the communication with parents. Being a small school, it allows parents to have a more personal relationship with teachers who are always happy to have a chat should you have any concerns about your child. I experienced a little personal issue with my daughter and they were very responsive and quick to support her. There is also a good choice of after school clubs and my daughter particularly enjoys Spanish. I know the school still suffers from a poor reputation of the past years. This is such a shame as lots of things have changed are constantly improving. It's definitely a good and safe place for your children that I am happy to recommend.

Early years teaching has been fantastic. School and teachers friendly, and most importantly pupils are simply delightful - polite, tidy, kind and well-behaved (in general!!!). Communication hasn't always been world-class but definitely improved over last 12 months and on the up. I am happy and so is my child.
