Whether it is the friendly welcome you receive when you walk into our school or seeing the many families using our grounds after school to play with and meet others, as soon as you walk through the gates you will feel part of our community welcome to Hitherfield Primary School and Children’s Centre.

Our vision is a school community where everyone feels valued, has the opportunity to explore, develop their strengths and participate in new experiences. Our aim is an inspirational school creating good people in an atmosphere that promotes confidence, high academic achievement, physical health and emotional well-being.

We support this aim with our core values (Unity, Excellence, Respect, Trust, Explore and Determination) and our key Learning Dispositions (Collaboration, Curiosity, Creativity, Resilience, Reflection and Risk-taking).

Our curriculum has always celebrated our rich diversity and being a London school, but we know that an exciting engaging curriculum is one that continues to evolve. We have worked hard to ensure our curriculum is anti-racist and fully inclusive and we will continue to develop in these areas. We pride ourselves on the partnership between the school, the child and their family.

Hitherfield has serve the local community since the 19th Century and continues to do so in our modern, well-resourced school buildings in stunning grounds, including three playgrounds, field, The Astroturf (Magic Carpet!), a trim trail, the nature area, edible playground and ball court.

Our pupils make outstanding progress academically, physically and socially, consistently above national progress averages. We are a ‘Lead Food Flagship School for Lambeth’ and share our food growing and healthy lifestyle expertise with other schools. We have won many awards and recognition including the Inclusion Quality and Arts Marks, and our pupils have won local and national competitions: the London-wide Robo-Challenge; local Athletics Championships; local football leagues, as well as being finalists in the national Microsoft Kodu cup for digital game design.

At Hitherfield School we have high expectations of all our children, encouraging them always to do their best regardless of their gender, ethnicity, additional needs or beliefs. We teach our children about the British Values - Democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith. We do this in a variety of ways, including modelling democracy (for example: pupil elections, General Elections, trips to the Houses of Parliament), through assemblies and our inclusive curriculum.

I went to this school back 1993 until secondary school. It was a great school back then.
