Hodges University, a private, nonprofit institution of higher learning, was founded in Naples, Florida in 1990 as International College. In 2007, International College was renamed Hodges University in honor of its main benefactors, Earl and Thelma Hodges, long-time residents of Naples and supporters of Hodges University. In addition to honoring the significant gift made by the Hodges, the name change more accurately reflected the growing student body and diverse degree programs offered as well as the move from college status to university status.
The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees.
Hodges University recognizes that today's students are often kept busy with careers and family. That's why many of our degree programs are offered entirely online to provide the flexibility you need. Imagine completing your associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree without commuting to classes. And, when you enroll in an online program at Hodges, you will not be compromising quality for convenience.
Our diverse student body and our personal attention to the distinct needs and cultural differences of our students are the reasons international students choose Hodges University. Whether you are seeking an undergraduate or graduate degree or are looking to learn English in our intensive English as a Second Language (ESL) program, we will make you feel at home, both on campus and online.
Hodges has programs that are entirely online, so it is possible to earn a degree without traveling to campus. At Hodges University, we believe education is essential to understanding one’s place in the world and the possibilities that lie ahead. That is why we offer challenging associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in a wide array of disciplines including business, health care and technology. Classes at Hodges are taught by professors with real-world experience in their fields who are here to help you learn, explore and achieve. Professors incorporate experiential learning, which provides students the opportunity to go outside the classroom to receive hands-on training and experience. In addition, students are encouraged to participate in various internship opportunities while pursuing their degrees.
Though serving students of all ages, Hodges University has garnered recognition for developing a curriculum that is uniquely catered to adults who balance their academic obligations while maintaining full-time jobs and family responsibilities. The university offers flexible schedules of day, evening and online classes; career counseling; and hands-on support from a highly qualified faculty. All of these factors culminate to produce a learning environment unlike any other institution in the region.
In addition to its undergraduate and graduate degree programs of study, Hodges University also facilitates a comprehensive English as a Second Language (ESL) program, which offers English language immersion to non-native speakers of English who want to increase their fluency. This intensive program is designed to enhance students’ knowledge and use of English, as well as their ability to integrate into an English-speaking culture. More than 25 different countries are typically represented within the ESL student population, 70 percent of whom are from Hispanic cultures.
In addition, many of our programs help our students attain professional credentials in areas such as nursing, public accounting, and mental health counseling. Others lead to industry certification. Military veterans, active duty service members, and their families can obtain assistance with their educational goals through our Dr. Peter Thomas Veterans Services Center.
