We are proud to reflect the population of our local community, with a good mix of boys and girls from all backgrounds in our borough. Our diversity is one of our strengths.

Our academic curriculum is at the heart of school life and ensures that all students get the opportunity to study academic disciplines. Whilst we want all our students to leave Beacon High with the currency they need to access the next stage of their education and to have an unrelenting focus on hard work and discipline, we know that getting great exam results is only half of a good education. We are determined to deliver as many opportunities as we can for every child to flourish outside the classroom. We have excellent facilities and outdoor space, including a swimming pool, and all of our Year 7 & 8 students learn to play the violin.

We place great emphasis on the highest standards for all our students. We promote self-esteem and community values for everyone in the school and pastoral care and inclusion are excellent. Staff know and support students extremely well and provide extra care and assistance where necessary. We also have a house system that encourages a strong sense of community and competition.

At Beacon High, we assume that our learners will achieve their best. We know that our learners will respond to clear boundaries and a clear vision. If we show our students that we believe in them and encourage them to have belief in themselves, their confidence grows and there is no limit to what they can achieve. Our students will leave school not only academically qualified, but also confident, mature and ready to prove themselves.

Beacon High is a school in Tufnell Park and we are a fully comprehensive school for 11-16 year old girls and boys.

We are a London Borough of Islington school, situated in a pleasant residential area close to the Camden - Islington border, served by good bus, train and tube services. Beacon High admits 120 girls and boys per year group. We are a member of Islington Futures Federation of community schools.

We have a state of the art building with specialist rooms for all subject areas. The school site has an extensive recreation and play space, including a roof top peace garden complete with guinea pigs, chickens and a vegetable garden. We also have an onsite swimming pool, Astroturf pitch, sports hall and state of the art fitness gym.

It is a school where we believe in whole education; success in exams is crucial but so too is developing the whole child. We know that our students come to us from primary school with a vision of where they want to be and what they want to become; we have future plumbers, doctors, artists, pilots, hairdressers, vets, entrepreneurs and so the list goes on. Whilst this may change in the coming years, at Beacon High our mission to ensure that our students continue to look to the future and understand what they need to do in order to be successful.

This is true for all students, no matter what their starting points. Beacon High is a fully inclusive school and we actively embrace difference and diversity in all their manifestations. Some students can and do go on to secure the top grades in every subject they study and follow a path which takes them through university and beyond to be the leaders in their chosen field. Others will pursue their sporting dreams and compete at the highest level. Others will develop their practical skills and secure apprenticeships in trades which will make them highly sought after in the workplace.

What we do is ensure that whatever their skills and talents, students are on the right path and leave us poised for the next stage with the appropriate qualifications, skills and a belief in themselves which will take them far beyond their school years.
