HWU Dubai scholarships to ease financial burden for students

Heriot-Watt University Dubai offers a variety of scholarships to encourage and support students looking to pursue higher education. This initiative is in line with the framework set by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and The Dubai Executive Council in order to regulate education fees in the coming years and create affordability for all.

Heriot-Watt University appreciates the investment students make towards their education and to help ease this financial burden, is in a position to offer the scholarships to those applicants and Dubai Campus students who qualify. Scholarships at the university include a range of offerings to assist students in achieving their goals and successful careers.

These scholarships include, but are not limited to:

• Early Application Discount: An early bird discount of AED 5000 will be awarded to any student for a Foundation, Undergraduate or Postgraduate course if the tuition fee is paid by the required deadline.
• Corporate Companies Discount: Groups of students working in the same organization and applying for any of the postgraduate programmes for the same academic year will be eligible for the following discounts upon enrolment:
  • 3-5 students – 10%
  • 6-10 students – 20%
  • 10+ students – 25%

Students will be required to submit proof that they are all currently working for the same organization.

• Alumni scholarship: An alumni scholarship of 10% of the published tuition fee is awarded to all students who have previously graduated with a degree from Heriot-Watt University as well as those who qualify and decide to join one of the Heriot-Watt University Dubai’s postgraduate taught programmes.
• Family Scholarship: Family Scholarships of 3,000 AED will be offered when two or more students from the same immediate family enrolling for any foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate programme.
• International Students Scholarship: A special International Student Scholarship of up to 50% of the tuition fee will be offered to a maximum of 50 students. This scholarship is open to all applicants for any of the foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. These scholarships will be awarded based on a range of criteria including merit, sports, service to community/industry etc. Students who are awarded the International Student Scholarship are expected to voluntarily contribute to the University’s marketing efforts in their respective countries.
• Petroleum Engineering Scholarship: Students applying to the Petroleum Engineering postgraduate programme would be granted a 25% tuition fees waiver.
• Community Engagement Scholarship: A scholarship of up to 30% of the tuition fee for up to 30 students will be offered to students who have excelled in any community engagement activities at the national or international level. This scholarship will be open to applicants for any of the foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Students who are awarded this scholarship are expected to engage in their chosen community engagement activity at the University’s events.
