Welcome to the International British Academy and thank you for your interest in our IBA.  This is an exciting time to be a part of this growing and dynamic school as we prepare to be the international school-of-choice for parents who want their children to experience an education that prepares them for a changing world and a global society.

As we prepare our students for entry into highly selective universities and to pursue challenging careers with rigorous and diverse academic programmes, we also ensure that each student learns personal and social responsibility through programmes that encourage self-discipline and community service.

At IBA our vision is to provide the highest quality of British education whilst at the same time preserving the best of Filipino culture and tradition in a multicultural and international environment where differences are respected and treasured.

The most important person to you and this academy is your child and we consider it a privilege to work with you to ensure that your child achieves their personal best in a safe and nurturing community.  Remembering that one of our important tasks is to produce leaders for the future, IBA encourages its students to exercise leadership that is compassionate, democratic and tolerant with an education that rests on the following five pillars:

  • Academic excellence that promotes ethical enquiry and informed choices
  • Student-centred approaches to learning, which nurture creativity
  • Developing confidence, self-reliance and self-esteem
  • Promoting democracy and a sense of responsibility to our community
  • Promoting a respect for the environment

The International British Academy (IBA) was founded as a school in November 2001, to provide a British education for English-speaking students of all nationalities from age three to seventeen. The school started with just 3 classrooms and 35 students.  The school received its recognition from the Philippines Department of Education (DepEd) for its preschool, primary school and high school in early 2006.

The school believes that while striving for academic excellence, it is crucial to bring out what is best in each child.  The competent, dedicated and caring teachers guide students to develop their full intellectual, creative and physical potential with goals of fostering self-esteem, independence, intellectual curiosity and moral character.

The school’s policy is to keep class sizes small (15 to 25 students in primary classes and 15 to 30 students in secondary classes).  Students are introduced to specialised teaching in core subjects: Mathematics, Science and English starting in Year 3.  In addition, specialist teachers instruct students in Music, Art, ICT and Physical Education, from Year 1 to Year 12.  Mandarin is required starting in Year 3 and continues to be a compulsory subject to Year 8.   All classes from Nursery to Year 1 are provided with Assistant Teachers.

The school strictly enforces the English Only Policy (EOP) on campus in order to foster interaction among the different nationalities.  This policy further enhances the learning of English for non-English speakers.

All classrooms are full air-conditioned making the environment conducive to learning.  Technology is widely used in all classes with each classroom provided with a multi-media projector.  A dedicated ICT laboratory, multi-media services and internet connection are in place.

The International British Academy(IBA) was founded in 2001, with just 3 classrooms and 35 students at Km. 30 Gen. Aguinaldo Highway, Dasmariñas, Cavite. The school’s population quickly increased to 156, just 3.5 years after it started its operation and outgrew the Dasmariñas site. IBA moved to a new and bigger facility in Imus, Cavite in April 2005. As of school year 2015-2016, its population has grown to 424 students representing 34 different nationalities.

Three years after its registration with the Department of Education, IBA received its recognition as an NKP, Primary and Secondary school in Cavite.

IBA was registered with the Department for Education and Skills(DfES) of the United Kingdom(UK) in 2002 and was given the DfES No. 703/6439.

From October 2003-2007, International British Academy was registered at the University of Cambridge Center for International Examinations(CIE) as one of its Cambridge International Centers outside of the United Kingdom . CIE is a part of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES), a department of the prestigious university. This registration allowed IBA to accept examinees for the different qualifications offered by CIE.

Although no longer registered as an Examination Center for CIE, IBA continues to follow the University of Cambridge‘s IGCSE syllabi for many of its core courses in Year 10 and 11 since IGCSE is recognized worldwide as a reliable record of attainment which counts toward entry to universities and colleges around the world, including all British universities. IGCSE was introduced by the University of Cambridge International Examinations in 1988 as an international version of the UK GCSE, therefore, O Level grades are directly equivalent to the UK GCSE and the IGCSE grades; i.e. an A at O Level is equivalent to an A at GCSE and an A at IGCSE. Students graduating from IBA are still able to transition comfortably into the A level in the United Kingdom.

The International British Academy aims:

  • To provide the highest quality of British education with the best of Filipino tradition and culture. This takes place within a stable, well-ordered environment.
  • To enable each child to achieve his/her optimum academic success within a challenging and supportive environment.
  • To encourage children to develop their talents, broaden their skills, and achieve their full potential.
  • To surround the child with a unique educational and cultural experience.
  • To develop the student to become a confident and compassionate member of society.

The International British Academy will be a leading educational institution recognized for its commitment to transform its students to citizens who are globally competitive, who have a strong sense of values, and who have a strong drive to contribute to society. The school will be recognized both locally and internationally for its high academic standards in the best traditions of a British education.
