Therefore, if we try to understand 21th century with the notions of 20th century, we fall into a big mistake. While the 20th century is a century expressed by the concept of "change", the 21st century is a century that should be expressed with the concepts of "Development" and "Transformation". That’s why, our task is to prepare our universities for Development and Transformation. It is a necessity for our universities to adopt an appropriate management approach in order to reach this aim. It is important for our country not to be late.

Istanbul Gelişim University has accepted the notion of "a man who doesn’t try to be better cannot stay good, as well" as a basic principle in order to fulfill this mission which is named by itself. In 2008, "Gelişim Education Culture Health and Social Service Foundation" initiated to establish Vocational School named 'İstanbul Gelişim Vocational School'and started education life with Vocational School established by Ministry of National Education and Council of Ministers on 14 June 2008.

Istanbul Gelişim University was established with the step taken on behalf of becoming a "world university" with 3 faculties, 3 institutes, 4 Schools and 1 vocational school in the 2015-2016 academic year with the law numbered 6114 dated 17 February 2011. The accreditation breakthrough made in the academic year 2017 - 2018 and the 40 Department and 53 Program have been accredited by AQAS (Agency for Quality Assurance through Accreditation of Accreditation Programs) which is one of the leading accreditation institutions in Germany. Istanbul Gelişim University, has the title of being the most accredited higher education institution in Turkey.

IGU, advocating that higher education is the most important tool of sustainable development, today has about 24K national and international students; There are 3 faculties, 3 vocational schools, 2 vocational schools, 71 licenses, 57 preliminary daytime programs, 38 associate degree night programs, 16 thesis / 15 non-thesis postgraduate programs and 4 PhD programs. Cooperating with more than 100 world universities Istanbul Gelişim University is also motivating its undergraduate, associate degree, graduate and doctoral students to become international.

Istanbul Gelişim University located in the in Istanbul - Turkey’s and the world's financial and trade center- campus area, offering huge research complex consisting of over 100 laboratories to the service of its students.
