The Jan Amos Komenský University Prague is located in the beautiful and historic city of Prague, situated in the vibrant district of Zizkov near the city center. Our students will find an intimate and friendly atmosphere set within the walls of our historic buildings.

We specialize in adult education, special education, teacher training, social and media communication including scenic and media studies and audiovisual communication, tourism management, security studies, insurance business studies, managerial psychology, law in entrepreneurship, as well as European economic and public administration studies including the prestigious, internationally accredited and recognised MBA programme.

The MBA programme is currently considered the qualification standard for managers of Czech and international companies and institutions. It is aimed at managers with professional experience to qualify further in the Human Resources Management and the European Union. The students will qualify for developing their own top career in managing structures at various levels, particularly in the EU countries.

The MBA programme graduates become top experts in the human resources management within the European institutional, economic, and legal frameworks.Through the MBA programme study the managers acquire a comprehensive system of knowledge and skillsneeded for building a successful career in business and management, including public administration, especially in education and human capital management.The main profile subjects of the MBA programme in the Human Resources Management and the European Union are as follows: Human Resources Management, European Integration, Legal Systems, Political and Economic Geography of EU, Economic Analysis, Organizational Behaviour and Leadership, Strategic and Operational Management, Problem Solving and Crisis Management, ICT and Information Systems.

The graduates have mastered at the advanced level the European institutional, economic, and legal frameworks with the focus upon human resources management. They are prepared for developing their further careers through applying theoretical knowledge and practical skills directly to complex problems solving in business, entrepreneurship, and institutional management. The graduates have also mastered methods of further education, lifelong learning, and team leadership. Their ability to synthesize theoretical knowledge and its practical application in the managerial environment is established by the defence of the final thesis.

• Mode of study is organized in weekend study blocks (about 5 weekends per semester).
• Standard length of study is 1,5 academic year (3 semesters) divided into 5 study areas.
• Study is concluded by the defence of a thesis.
• Graduates are awarded the professional title Master of Business Administration (MBA).

International students are welcomed to study at the University of Jana Amose Komenskeho in Prague within the Erasmus+ program. We are also sure that you will gain new experience and meet new friends here in Prague.

Jan Amos Komenský University Prague has gradually attained a solid position within the tertiary education market as the largest Czech institution of its kind and the first private university (as defined by the Czech Higher Education Act), successfully filling the gaps of the national tertiary education system both in terms of subjects offered and the regional coverage.

The University offers fully accredited university studies in the Czech language including degree courses in English (primarily in European Economic and Public Administration) as well as certified life-long learning courses. Lectures take place every week or every second week. We also provide tutorials. Tutorial means that the students do not attend lectures (the lectures are in Czech language) but they are given independent project (semestral work) to do individually and are assigned a supervisor who provides consultation and study support in English language. However, we recommend to all Erasmus students to attend the Courses taught in English language in order fully experience academic life at the JAKU. We have been active in research, and innovations participating in various national and international projects as well as being member of various associations such as the European University Association. Our research activities cover, in particular, special education, adult education, human resources development, methodologies of education, economy and public administration and communication & media.

As a continuation in the long-standing tradition of the Komenský Academy, a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization which was engaged in adult education in 1990’ the Jan Amos Komenský University Prague’s systematic development is based on cooperation with professional workplaces in both the Czech Republic and abroad. Established in 2001, the Jan Amos Komenský University Prague offers inventive programmes and has a continuously expanding student base, at present encompassing around 5 000 students. More programmes are currently being developed so please check back regularly.

The JAKU Prague has bee enjoying a long-term cooperation with the following institutions:

• University of International Business, Almaty, Kazakhstan – a dual degree undergraduate progrmme in the study programme Finance at UIB and the European Economic and Public Administration Studies at JAKU Prague.
• RFCA Academy, Almaty, Kazakhstan – an MBA programme realized by both RFCA and the JAKU Prague accredited by FIBAA.
