Jinwen University of Science and Technology

Jinwen University of Science and Technology(JUST) was originally named as “Jin-wen Industrial and Commercial College”, and established in Xindian District of New Taipei City by Mr. Wan-Li Chang in 1990. The initial enrollment set of electronic engineering department, international trade department, business management department, accounting statistics department, banking and insurance department and electronic data processing department, a total of 17 classes in six departments.

According to the national developing trend, accelerate the upgrading of the quality of the Technical and Vocational Training of manpower to meet the manpower developing needs of the domestic industry. It was subsequently upgraded into “Jin-Wen Institute of Technology” and approved by the Ministry of Education in 1998, base on the original scale expansion to 16 departments, the number of students has increased by more than 10,000.

JUST has re-approved by the Ministry of Education changed its name to "Jinwen University of Science and Technology" on February 1, 2007. JUST developing to new heights, became one of the important university of technology in the areas of New Taipei City. Currently (2015), there are 14 departments and 4 graduate programs within 4 colleges of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Business and Management, Humanities and Design, Electrical, Information and Resources Engineering, and more than 8,000 students at JUST.

Our campus has modern and well-maintained facilities and has been accredited as a safe school by the International Safe Schools (ISS) of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2010 and 2014. Our university possesses strong faculty members with wonderful teaching quality. We also received subsidies from the Teaching Excellence Project funded by the Ministry of Education (MOE) from 2009 to 2014. In order to make our students more competitive in career fields, JUST puts special emphasis on bilateral business-university cooperation and actively promotes student internships, both off-campus and overseas. Our school is a qualified university with the characteristics to nurture professionals in the fields of hospitality and tourism, business management and services, applied foreign languages, electrical engineering and information technology, environmental science and property management, and creative design.

The college consists of the Graduate School of Tourism and Hospitality and 4 departments: Department of Leisure and Recreational Management, Department of Food and Beverage Management, Department of Travel Management, and Department of Hotel Management. In total, there are 1 independent graduate school and 4 departments.

The College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) was established in August 1, 2007. The educational objective of EECS is to get united with domestic electronic and computer technology industries, jointly promote the collaboration between industry and university, and help forward the upgrade of these industries. The college of EECS consists of three departments/institutes, namely, the Department of Electronic Engineering (EE), the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering (CSIE) department, and the Institute of Computer and Communication Engineering (CCE).

The EE department was established in August 1, 2001. Before its formation, it was formerly called Electronic Engineering Section which was set up in August 1, 2000. The CSIE department was also established in August 1, 2001, while the Institute of CCE was formed in August 1, 2007.

The growth and development of the college of EECS follows one of the university’s overall objectives, namely, “Create A Superior Teaching and Research Environment to Cultivate and Mold Talents in Science and Technology”. On the teaching aspect, we intend to match up with the national goals in the electronic and information technology (IT) high-tech development needs as well as in the technical vocational education system. Therefore, we set up our teaching goal to educate and train the students to become skillful in electronic and IT with emphasis in both technology and ethic. Our curriculum plan also emphasizes in both theory and practice with special attention at practicality, hands-on practices, and laboratory experiments.
