John Paul Academy

At John Paul Academy we have a core objective, that is, to make a unique difference to every individual within our community in order that they reach their highest potential. It is in working towards this end that we create an ethos of achievement that is conducive to high quality learning.

You will see that there are many clubs and extra-curricular activities for the young people to be involved in where they can develop relationships with both members of staff and their peers. It is through these quality relationships that we believe real learning, that will benefit young people for the rest of their lives, will take place.

Our partnerships with parents are critical as parents and carers are the primary educators and that is exactly why we would encourage you to contact us directly if you have any concerns or questions relating to the development of the young people.

John Paul Academy is located in Summerston in the north west of Glasgow. Our Learning Community includes St Blane's, St Charles, St Joseph's and St Mary's primaries.

The school building is modern and facilities include a multipurpose hall, theatre and social area, an upgraded PE facility, including a new fitness suite, changing rooms, and all weather pitch, a modern Home Economics department, a suite of ICT rooms, a library and drama studio. Our school has excellent Pupil Support and Wellbeing facilities and in addition we have an Integration Centre to support learners with language and communication difficulties in accessing mainstream education. The school has a lift for use by pupils, staff and visitors with mobility difficulties.

The new PE facility is managed in the evenings and weekends by Culture and Sport Glasgow, and is accessed from a dedicated entrance and reception area at the side of the school. Other facilities in the school are also available for community letting, which is managed by Glasgow City Council Letting Department.

In John Paul Academy, through service to the common good and recognizing the dignity and voice of each person, we commit to the pursuit of excellence, through the development of each person's God given talents. This core professional purpose was arrived at after consultation with pupils, parents and staff.
