King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) is a leading technology university in Thailand. Its three campuses are in the North of Bangkok, Prachinburi and Rayong province. The educational system emphasizes development of people in science and technology to become technicians, technologists, engineers, technical teachers and also administrators in education business and industry. To expand the educational system to the regional areas, in 1995, KMUTNB acquired land in Prachinburi province to establish a new campus "KMUTNB Prachinburi. Prachinburi Campus is located at 129 Moo 6, Tambon Noenhom, Amphoe Mueang, Prachinburi 25230. The total area is 197.41 hectares. The first students began studying in the Faculty of Industrial technology and Management in 1997. In 2003, student from the Faculty of Agro Industry also started studying at the Prachinburi Campus.
King Monngkut's University of Technology will establish its 3 campus in Rayong Province. The campus will be constructed at the Ban Khai District which is about 150 kilometers from the Map Ta Phut deep seaport in Rayong. The new Campus, which iis expected to cost about 3 billion Thai bath to construct, will occupy estimated of 100 rai and would be completed within the period of 5 years. Rayong Province ia always referred to as the industrial Hub of Thailand, for its accommodation of vast industrial zones such as the Amata city Rayong, the Eastern seaboard industrial Estate, The Map Ta Phut industrial Estate, the Siam Eastern Industrial Park, Rojana industrial park etc.
Designed to expand opportunities for higher education in Science, Technology, Applied Arts and higher academic related courses, the project is a unique vision for the industries around its location. Preferences shall be given to the Locals who are interested in studying at the Campus. Special quotas will be offered to students in Rayong and the Eastern regions such as Chonburi, Chachoengsao, Chantaburi and Trat. This initiative is considered as a government policy to expand educational opportunities for young people in the region and especially to target higher educational students. Moreover, this will also raise the quality of life of the people, as many will be able to get the right technology and modern agricultural skills that has been lacking in the region. All this is an effort by the government to improve on the lives of the people.
