At KTJ, students are nurtured by the values of our British independent school education which we infuse with the vitality of Malaysian culture. We ensure that our students are ready to thrive in the rapidly-changing world outside the school gates.
We have a strong set of guiding principles which are reviewed regularly in consultation with the wider KTJ community. During our 30-year history these principles have evolved to reflect the changing nature of education and the successful growth of the School, but in every iteration they continue to reflect the original aims for the establishment of the School by the Founding Trustees. These original aims included the establishment of a British-style boarding school which was firmly rooted in its Malaysian and South East Asian context; as well as a focus on holistic education, the development of global citizenship, the championing of sustainability and the promotion of diversity and inclusion.
Our Vision is To be the school of choice in South East Asia, empowering students to become responsible leaders of a sustainable, global community.
Our Mission is To nurture and inspire our diverse learning community, providing a holistic, British-style day and boarding school education in a Malaysian setting.
Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar was founded in 1989 by members of the Negeri Sembilan Royal Family. Their vision was to create school which encapsulated the strengths and values of a British boarding education, infused with the vitality of Malaysian culture.
As a not-for-profit organisation, we have continuously invested in our facilities and resources over the past 30 years, to encourage our students to explore and develop their unique interests and talents whilst inspiring a love of learning.

I have been studying here since August 2019 and this school has been the best school ever! All the teachers and friends are super nice and the environment here is super environmentally friendly. The courses here are also all super interesting including; food tech, swimming and much more! If you are ever looking for a place to study for your child I would recommend going to KTJ International School.

Four years in KTJ and I'm blessed with all the amazing teachers and friends. There will be ups and downs but mostly for me the experience I had in KTJ was wonderful. Good sports and food and Saturday night events. And a good house! Irinah dynamite!
