The Kooralbyn International School

Education is a 'people business'. So even though curriculum, resources, facilities, reputation, discipline, standards of safety  all these things are important; it is the 'people' of a school that define it.

In 1985, when the original board of trustees established the small, single-campus school at the end of Ogilvie Place in Kooralbyn, it is unlikely that they could have envisaged the number of Olympians, business leaders, international sports persons, politicians and successful alumni that The Kooralbyn International School now boasts.

The Kooralbyn International School commits to the basic premise that any student who accepts and abides by the rules and regulations of the school (including those rules pertaining to dress code, behavior and work ethic), should be offered equal access to the quality educational services provided by the school.

TKIS offers the Australian Curriculum (AC) from Prep to Grade 10 and the Queensland New Senior Curriculum for Grades 11 and 12. As a small, independent school, TKIS does not provide a religious-based curriculum nor is it able to offer ALL subjects under the AC or New Senior curriculum. However, the school offers all eight core learning areas of English, Maths, Science, HaSS (Humanities & Social Sciences), Technologies, HPE (Health & Physical Education), LOTE (Languages Other Than English) and The Arts. Its Senior Subjects include all the more popular ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank) and non-ATAR eligible options. The school also offers its famous range of mastery programs in high school including Golf, Athletics, Health & Fitness, Tennis, Art, Drama, Music, Dance, Digital Design and Film & TV. Specializations like Equestrian and Aviation are also possible through a process of Private Masteries that can be authorized by the school.
