Kwun Tong Baptist Church Kindergarten

Led by the philanthropic spirit of Jesus, KTBCKG nurtures children to attain all-round development in the domains of ethics, intellect, physique, social skills, aesthetics and spirit, and help them build solid foundation for future learning.

Receiving training on child care in professional institutes such as The Education University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University and Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary, our teachers are benevolent, patient, and are rich in educational experience. Specialized teachers are recruited to teach Putonghua, while foreign teachers are hired to educate pupils on English phonics and oral course.

The curriculum of KTBCKG is designed based on Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide prepared by the Curriculum Development Council. Taking ‘child-centredness’ as the core value, it adopts game-based learning strategy and fosters well-rounded and balanced development of children, covering their moral, cognitive and language, physical, affective and social and aesthetic developments. With enhancement courses on spiritual development and life education, children receives comprehensive nurture on knowledge, skills and values and attitude.

KTBCKG adopts the activity approach in educating children. Pupils are inspired to learn and develop their potential through games, exploration, discussions, outdoor observation, extra-curricular visits and parent-child activities. These diversified learning activities stimulate children’s curiosity, spur their interest in learning and lay them a strong learning foundation by enriching their experience. The interactions involved in the activities also enhance pupils’ communication and questioning techniques, and strengthen their interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

In order to cultivate children’s moral standard, the school launched a moral education award program to build children’s positive values. Through visits and flag-selling activities, pupils put respect in practice, and learn to care for people around us and pay attention to others’ needs.

Life education means to encourage others with one’s life experience and show them the meaning of love. Through life education, children grow up in a loving environment, and get to understand, cherish and live their own life. Through story-telling and activities which trigger thinking, discussion and concrete practice, children know about their own uniqueness and learn to accept, cherish and respect themselves and others.

In the face of the changing society, teachers’ professionalism enhancement becomes a constant development goal. Only by unceasingly updating teachers’ knowledge can the teaching quality be improved. In this light, KTBCKG organises training seminars or workshops, overseas exchange and academic conference for its teaching staff to boost their professional knowledge. Through collective lesson preparation, mutual class observation and after-class reviews, the school builds a culture of learning and sharing in the campus, enhances teachers’ professional skills and thus promotes sustainable development of the school.
