Kyorin University, Mitaka Campus

Kyorin University continues to uphold this founding spirit in all its educational and research activities.

In a world confronted by increasingly varied, complex, and serious issues, Japanese universities have a responsibility not only to provide a broad-based general education but also to produce the “citizens of the twenty-first　century”—people with a strong sense of public duty and morality, who can play an active role supporting and building a better society adapted to our changing times.

The educational philosophy of Kyorin University is geared to answering this need by nurturing individuals of excellent character, committed to carrying on the Kyorin spirit—“Pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty”—who will make the most of their talents and abilities in the service of humanity and society.

We have two university campuses in Mitaka City. The Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Nursing, Nursing School, Graduate School of Medicine and Kyorin University Hospital are located on the Mitaka Campus. The Faculty of Health Sciences, the Graduate School of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Foreign Studies and the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies are located on the Inokashira Campus.

Approximately 1,000 teachers in total have commitments to teach, as well as working on their academic research. The total number of staff at our university is about 3,100 including those working in the University Hospital. Those teachers and staff are engaged in teaching at the university and medical service at the affiliated hospital.

In April of 2016 we opened our Inokashira Campus. All the buildings on this campus are seismically isolated structures for the safety of our students, staff and faculty in case of any earthquake or natural disaster.
This campus serves as a Center of Knowledge and Information with its active learning system based on the dedicated study and research of our students and faculty. We can call this campus a Center for the Globalization of Society as we produce future leaders who are undergoing a new system of intercollege education and research not only within our classrooms but also our local communities.

The role that universities must serve in developing human resources to fit the currentneeds of our society has been altered due to the development of information technology and its systems. The raison d'etre of Kyorin University is to raise the quality of education, research and medical treatment to cope with these changing needs of society.
