Welcome from the Admissions team

Doha Academy is a school that provides education from Kindergarten to Year 13. We follow the National Curriculum of England and Wales, and also offer the IGCSE and GCE A levels. Our school is co-educational from kindergarten to year 5 and it is gender segregated from year 6 onwards at the Al Waab Campus and Salwa Branch.

The aim of our department is to assist you at every stage of the Admissions process. We hope you will find much of the information that you need on these pages but if you have questions at any stage, do please contact us on +97440202709 or schedule a tour.

Please Note

  • If you would like to visit our school, please call our office and book an appointment. Currently, we cannot accommodate unplanned visits.
  • If you are transferring from another school locally, please ensure that you have all the correct documents signed and stamped.

We look forward to welcoming you at Doha Academy!

Application Process

You Are Welcome To Fill Our Application Via Two Channels: In Person And/or Online.

We prefer online applications as it allows us to review your file immediately and gives us a head start on the application process. However, we do understand that not everyone is comfortable with an electronic application. In these case, we will welcome a paper application delivered in person.

In order to have an application considered, we require the following documents:

  • Passport size photo (2).
  • Copy of Birth Certificate.
  • Copy of Vaccination Certificate.
  • Copy of the Child’s Passport.
  • Copy of the Child’s Qatar ID.
  • Copy of Parents’ Passport (both parents).
  • Copy of Parents’ Qatar ID (both parents).
  • Last two years’ school reports (If the reports are from outside Qatar, Qatari students must get an equivalency document from the Ministry of Education. As for non-Qatari students bringing reports from outside Qatar, the reports must be attested by the Embassy of the country where they studied and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
  • Recommendation letter from the previous school which includes attendance, behavior information, and last year group attended.
  • Completed transfer letter to be provided at the end of the academic year.
  • Medical file: For Kindergarten, Reception, and Year 1 (Government Health Centre/Clinic).

Please  Note

All non-Qatari children must be in possession of a valid Qatar Residency Permit before starting school in Qatar.

  • The placement of a student in an appropriate year group for their age is the joint responsibility of the receiving school and the parent. In exceptional cases, when the child is placed in a year group, which does not match his / her age, parents must undertake to sign an agreement with the school.
  • Parents seeking a place for a child who has not previously been educated in a British curriculum school should refer to the Ministry equivalency chart to understand the appropriate year group for their son / daughter.
  • An end of year report card must be submitted by parents to finalise the registration of their child and thereafter to enter student data on the official MoE & HE registers via their official portal.
  • Parents must confirm that their child has ‘passed’ the last school year group on the MoE & HE system in order to be promoted to the next year group. In the event that a parent cannot confirm this, and at a later date a ‘fail’ status is evident, the school reserves the right to demote the child to the appropriate year group.

Registration

Once a successful application has been received, depending on space available, a successful applicant is called for an entrance exam. If the application is for Primary, the applicant will be tested on English and Mathematics. If the application is for Secondary, the applicant will be tested on English, Mathematics and Arabic.

If the applicant has had a successful entrance exam, the family will be informed and offered a place in the school. If the family choose to accept, they will have to pay a registration fee to secure the applicant’s place in the school.
