SOTA conducts ONE (1) Admission Exercise a year through the Talent Academy (TA), which takes place in June.

What is the Talent Academy (TA)?

The TA is SOTA’s Direct School Admissions (DSA) platform that includes the following activities:

  • Individual auditions or portfolio presentations
  • Group sessions
  • Panel interviews
  • Online questionnaires
  • Entrance tests*

* For shortlisted candidates not studying in a local MOE mainstream school only

All shortlisted candidates must attend and complete all TA activities at SOTA.

Parents and pupils are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the pupil's aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind SOTA’s academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.

Application Period

  • Application opens on 3 April and closes on 18 May , 12:00 noon, Singapore Time (SGT)
  • Sign up for a TA Portal account starting from 3 April HERE; and
  • Log in to the TA Portal to submit your application online from 3 April HERE
  • Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered for selection. No extensions will be provided.

How to Apply

  • Prepare your portfolio for submission

Note: You may apply for up to TWO (2) art forms only

3 April to 18 May 12:00 noon (SGT) All Applicants Apply Online

  • Register for an account and submit the application online via the TA Portal
  • Application closes on 18 May, 12:00 noon (SGT)
  • It takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete the entire application for ONE (1) art form, provided that the supporting documents and portfolio submission have been prepared in advance
  • Submit your application early, as the TA Portal may experience slower connectivity due to high traffic during the application period
  • Incomplete applications will be disqualified. Appeals for late submissions will not be considered
  • You are not required to apply via MOE’s DSA-Sec Portal

  • check the status of your Shortlisting Outcome
3 June to 14 June All Shortlisted Applicants Log in to the TA Portal to:

  • upload your Primary 6 mid-year results
  • download the 3rd set piece for Music (Violin, Voice, and Piano applicants only)
  • the 3rd set piece is not applicable to:
    • Carnatic/Hindustani voice, Carnatic/Hindustani violin, Traditional Chinese voice from Music-Performing track, and
    • all Music-Creating track applicants
  • download the prescribed monologue (Theatre applicants only)
16 June 6:00 pm (SGT) All Shortlisted Applicants
  • Log in to the TA Portal and download your TA schedule
  • Check your TA schedule to find out the allocated days/dates that you are required to attend
24 June to 26 June All Shortlisted Applicants Attend and complete all scheduled TA activities at SOTA comprising:

  • Individual auditions or portfolio presentations
  • Group sessions
  • Panel interviews
  • Online questionnaires

Notice Update – 27 March: The Talent Academy is currently scheduled for 24-26 June. However in view of the current COVID-19 situation, these dates may change. More information will be provided as soon as possible. Applicants are advised not to make travel plans in June. Shortlisted applicants must attend and complete all scheduled TA activities. Incomplete attendance will result in disqualification.

The decision of the selection panel is final. The school reserves the right not to release the results and/or the reasons for non-selection of applicants. The school maintains strict confidentiality on all information provided to us during the TA applications and TA auditions. Hence, we regret that we are not able to provide any feedback on the application and/or outcome.

Is there a Talent Academy (TA) registration and/or entrance test fee applicable?

There is no TA Registration Fee applicable.

I have missed the DSA-Sec application in April to May. Are there any other admission exercises for Year 1 intake for the Next Academic Year ?

No, there isn't. SOTA admits 100% of its Year 1 cohort through the DSA exercise and does not participate in the S1 Posting exercise post-PSLE. There is no other admission exercise for Year 1 intake for the Next Academic Year other than the DSA exercise.
