Admissions Requirements

ACS (International) enrols both local and international students.

Students are admitted in accordance with the Admissions Policy. The process for applying and admittance is shown in the table below.

Level Applying for Admission by
Years 1 to 3 IGCSE Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) Results [for local Year 1 admissions]

  • Require no entrance test
  • Submit results after November release
  • Minimum criteria:
    • Attained aggregate of 200 or more
    • Eligible for the Express stream
  • Attend short oral interview (with a senior staff member)
Direct School Admission (DSA) [for Years 1, 2 and 3 admissions]

  • Require entrance test (English and Mathematics & Sciences [for Year 3 applicants]), usually administered earlier in the year, before the release of the PSLE results in the student’s PSLE year
  • Attend short oral interview (with a senior staff member)
Year 5 IBDP Direct School Admission (DSA)

  • Based on Preliminary Exam results
  • IGCSE results will determine which Higher Level (HL) subjects the student may take for the IBDP the following year
Years 1, 2, 3, Foundation IB, & Bridging Programmes* Direct School Admission (DSA)

  • Require entrance test (English, Mathematics & Sciences [for Years 3 and 5 applicants])
  • Attend short oral interview (with a senior staff member)
Year 5 IBDP GCE ‘O’ Levels or IGCSE Results

  • Submit results after August/January release
  • Require no entrance test
  • Minimum criteria:
    • Singapore GCE ‘O’ Levels: Attained aggregate of 20 or less
    • IGCSE: Minimum of 2A, 2B, and 3C grades
  • Attend short oral interview (with a senior member of staff)
Direct School Admission (DSA)

  • Require entrance test (English, Mathematics, and Sciences [for Years 3 and 5 applicants]), usually administered in the student’s Secondary 4 year
  • Attend short oral interview (with a senior staff member)

Note: Progression to the next year level is based on consistent attendance at school and meeting progression requirements in the internal school examinations.

* One-Year Bridging Programmes

Students who take English as a Second Language may apply to join the Bridging programme in Years 1, 2 or 4 in preparation for joining the mainstream classes the following year.

Students who take English as a First Language and are applying for Year 4, are not eligible for the two-year IGCSE programme but may apply to the one-year Foundation IB course. The standard entrance tests for each level plus the oral interview form the basis of selection. Their current school reports are also considered.

Admissions Process

Application

Prospective students are to submit a completed Application for Admission Form, either online or in hard copy, with the following items (where applicable). Any documents not in English must be certified and translated.

Documents required:

  • Applicant’s Birth Certificate;
  • Applicant’s Passport (for Non-Singaporeans);
  • Applicant’s Dependent Pass (if appropriate);
  • Applicant’s Citizenship (if appropriate);
  • Applicant’s School’s Academic Transcripts for the last Two (2) years;
  • Applicant’s PSLE/GCE ‘O; Levels/IGCSE Results Slip (for those who have completed the respective programmes);
  • Applicant’s Awards Certificates (if appropriate for DSA application);
  • Applicant’s Medical and/or Psychological Reports (if appropriate);
  • MOE MTL Exemption Letter (if appropriate);

Upon successful application, applicants will be informed of the date to take the entrance test.

Entrance Test

An entrance test is scheduled every Monday from 9:30am to 2:30pm. The test involves one paper in English, one paper in Mathematics and possibly one paper in Science. The duration of each paper is about 2 hours and will cover content directly related to the preceding level of study to admission level.

Oral Short Interview

On the same day as the entrance test, applicants will also be interviewed by a senior staff member following the completion of the written papers.

Notes:

Students with PSLE, ‘O’ Level or IGCSE qualifications from the previous year will not normally be required to sit for the entrance test. However, they still need to undertake the oral interview.

Admission is in accordance with the stipulated age limit of the Ministry of Education. For each level, the age limit of up to 1 year over the normal age is to be adhered to.

Acceptance

Successful applicants will be informed via email and issued an acceptance letter for their signatory and fees payment. A list of forms to be completed and submitted will also be provided.

After acceptance, overseas applicants should travel to Singapore on a visitor’s visa to apply for their student pass. Upon arrival, applicants will work with their guardian to launch the Student Pass Application, purchase uniform and textbooks, and arrange for boarding/accommodation.

To plan ahead, overseas applicants are encouraged to complete the Student Pass Application prior to arrival.

Admissions Tests for Other Schools

The school does not provide supervision for tests for other schools. Students should approach recognised external agencies for this service.
