Living in a boarding environment exposes students to new learning experiences and develops their ability to make personal choices that will enhance their personal growth and maturity. Students learn to appreciate consideration, co-operation, independence and how to live with others in a supportive environment where standards of behaviour are determined for the benefit and welfare of the community. They are able to make friends from different nationalities and forge lifelong friendships through living and sharing together.

All new international students who are residing in Singapore without their parents must commit to staying in Oldham Hall or ACS (Independent) Boarding School for a minimum period of ONE year in order that they enjoy the rich benefits that come from boarding experience while studying in an overseas country.
Both hostels host students from other ACS schools, and each offers modern facilities in a supporting and safe environment.
A limited number of homestays with private families approved by the school are also available from the International Pastoral Coordinator for consideration.
Each Hall of Residence has 2 types of rooms – double room and single room.
The rooms are subject to availability and the allocation of boarders to double rooms is done by the Hall Staff, who takes into account the age, responsibility level, and specific needs of each boarder.
Each boarder has a personal study area (desk with chair), book shelf, bed, wardrobe and wastepaper bin. There is also additional storage under the bed for bulky items. Bed linen will be provided, although boarders can opt to use their own. Each room has attached bathroom facilities. Ceiling fans and air-conditioning* are also provided.
The rooms will be cleaned once a week. Boarders are still expected to dispose their own trash and maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of their own rooms.

The Boarding School provides a number of services and facilities, in each hall, for the safety and well-being of our Boarders:
#Air-conditioning in the Prep Room and Student Lounge runs from 8pm to 12am on weekdays and 12pm to 12am on weekends.
