Overview
The BCIS academic year starts in [August and ends in June]. There are two (2) semesters divided into 4 Quarters in the academic year.
BCIS has an open enrollment policy which means applications are accepted year round depending on seat availability. It is important that parents keep their children’s applications current by updating us with recent school records. In April, current students are asked to re-enroll for the upcoming school year. The number of returning students tells us the number of new students we can accept for Semester 1.
Acceptance letters start going out in May for the upcoming academic year. Students will continue to be accepted throughout the summer until the start of school (subject to availability of places).
The Admissions Office is open all year round, excluding Thailand public holidays. Please view Staff Hours here to connect with our admissions officer.
Applications can be submitted throughout the calendar year. Students are accepted as spaces become available.
Age Recommendations
As students join BCIS from countries and educational systems around the world, the exact age requirements for each grade varies. The final decision on the grade level a student is to join will be dependent upon the assessment and interview at the time of application and previous school records. As a general rule, students at BCIS fall in the following age groups at the start of the academic year in August:
| Year Level | Age (as of August) | Year Level | Age (as of August) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nursery | 2-3 | 5 | 10 – 11 |
| Kindergarten 1 | 3 – 4 | 6 | 11 – 12 |
| Kindergarten 2 | 4 – 5 | 7 | 12 – 13 |
| Kindergarten 3 | 5 – 6 | 8 | 13 – 14 |
| 1 | 6 – 7 | 9 | 14 – 15 |
| 2 | 7 – 8 | 10 | 15 – 16 |
| 3 | 8 – 9 | 11 | 16 – 17 |
| 4 | 9 – 10 | 12 | 17 – 18 |

Step 3: Application Review
Assessment applications will be reviewed taking into consideration various factors, including the results of the assessment, school reports, English language ability and availability of places. The school reserves the right to assign priorities for admission or refuse admission for any reason we deem fit. Where places are insufficient, applicants remain on the queue.
Step 4: Offer of Place
If the application is successful, an offer of place will be made. The acceptance of the offer must be made by paying the applicable fees on or before the stipulated date on the letter of offer. The payment of the required fees constitutes the acceptance of a place and therein confirms the place of the child.
Step 5: Admission
Upon receiving payment, which confirms an acceptance of offer, the child will officially be enrolled. The Admissions office will communicate the start date of your child and provide details of their first day at the School, including: orientation, schedule, expectations, regulations and guidelines.
