Admissions Process

The process for admissions begins when you complete our online application form. A non-refundable registration fee of £125 is payable at the time of applying. Entry to Bromley High School is competitive, therefore early applications are recommended.

Once the closing date has passed, all those who apply will be invited for assessment. Key admissions dates vary depending on whether you are applying to the Junior School (Reception and Year 3) the Senior School (Year 7) or our Sixth Form (Year 12)

Those who are successful in the selection process will be made an offer. Selection is based upon academic merit but also on our assessment of whether a pupil will flourish within our community.

On accepting a place, an acceptance deposit of £1,500 is payable which is automatically refunded when your daughter leaves the school.

In-Year Admissions

We appreciate that personal circumstances change over the course of the year and that there may be interest in other year groups. We offer flexible testing arrangements where possible and subject to availability, we will always try and accommodate parents with additional testing dates and do everything we can to assist you with your school move.

For occasional places, please contact our Admissions Team at admissions@bro.gdst.net to discuss current capacity.

Taster Days
We hold a number of Taster Days throughout the year which are fun and exciting events.

They provide the opportunity to spend the morning at the school, meet our teachers and students and give you a flavour of what makes Bromley High School unique. We strongly advise you attend a Taster Event as part of the application process.

Junior Admissions

The main entry points to the Junior School are Reception (4+) and Year 3 (7+).

Entry at 4+ and 7+ is highly competitive and it is unusual for places to become available in any other Junior School year group.

4+ Entry (Reception)

Assessment
Our 4+ Assessments will be held on Saturday 25th November .

The assessment is a large group session held in a nursery style environment within our Reception classrooms and led by our Reception and KS1 team of teachers and assistants.

Parents meet with the Junior Leadership in the hall and have the opportunity to tour the school.

4+ Taster Days
Your daughter will spend an hour at the school and we ask that you accompany your daughter during the session.

4+ Stay & Play Sessions
Our Stay & Play sessions are run by our Early Years staff and specialists teachers for girls wishing to join Reception in September .

We offer a variety of different themes including Technology, Outdoor Exploring, Get Active and Yoga

7+ Entry (Year 3)

The majority of our girls progress internally from Year 2 to Year 3, however we admit external applicants to join Year 3. Typically, we teach 48 girls in two forms of 24 in Year 3.

Senior Admissions

Year 7 (11+) Entry

Entry to the Senior School is in Year 7 (11+). The Senior School is a four form entry so, although more than 40% of pupils come from our two form Junior School, the majority of girls entering the Senior School are new girls joining us from a wide range of feeder prep and primary schools.

At 11+, up to 60 Year 7 places are available for external applicants who sit the entrance examination in December of Year 6.

Entrance Examination
Our 11+ Entrance Examination will be held on Saturday 9th December (for entry).

The Entrance Examination will consist of tests which are non-subject specific and which test a pupil’s academic potential. They cover verbal, non-verbal, spatial and quantitative reasoning skills. Alongside these standardised tests, girls sit a short creative writing paper and a brief mathematics extension exercise. We do not provide past or sample papers.

Sixth Form Admissions

We welcome applications from independent and ambitious Year 11 girls to our academically selective and inspirational Sixth Form.

We offer places to external applicants to the Sixth Form subject to GCSE exam results, school reference and interview.

Students wishing to study A levels at Bromley High School must achieve Grade 7’s or above at GCSE in subjects that they intend to study at A level.

Reference
A reference and GCSE predicted grades will be requested from your daughter’s current school.

Offers
We will send out our offers by Thursday 14th December . Provisional offers are subject to success in GCSE exams.
