Admissions Process

Day Pupils

The main ages for entry into the school for day pupils are 4+ (Reception) and 7+ (Year 3) and 11+ (Year 7). There are sometimes spaces in other year groups and parents are asked to contact Clare Morgan (details below) if they are interested.

4+ Admission

Children are assessed informally for entry to the Reception form in the Pre-Prep department when rising four. This assessment takes place in the November before the year of entry. There is a one-form entry at this level. Subject to their attaining the appropriate academic standard, they progress at the age of seven to the Prep School.

7+ Admission

The Prep School has a two-form entry at 7+ and places are available for boys and girls who have not attended the Pre-Prep department. The school is looking for pupils whose abilities are at the national average or above. Assessment at this level takes place in the January before their entry into the school in September. The closing date for entries is December 31st.

11+ Admission

We welcome applicants for places at 11+ to join our exciting Year 7 and Year 8 programme.

We offer a broad curriculum, while also preparing pupils for Common Entrance. We are able to do this through a wide range of music, the arts, sciences and sport which more than prepares young people for their next senior school.

We strongly believe in creating opportunities for young people to take on positions on leadership and to develop their independence as learners and as young citizens.

Choristers Admissions Process

Parents are asked to contact the Director of Music, Mr Andrew Carwood, through the Music Department Administrator, Mrs Angela Palotai (tel: 0207 236 6883; email: apalotai@stpaulscathedral.org.uk), to arrange an informal audition in the first instance. This will involve singing a song, and some aural tests. Other than knowing a song and bringing a copy of the music with them, no other preparation is required. If your son can play an instrument as well we would love to hear them!

If asked to progress to a formal audition, the candidate will be asked to undergo the same academic testing as day pupils. Formal voice trials are held throughout the year.

Please contact Clare Morgan at the school on 020 7248 5156 or admissions@spcs.london.sch.uk or fill in the web form below for further details.

Boys and girls who join us at 11+ flourish in small classes taught by subject specialists, and enjoy being at the top of the school in a caring, and exciting environment.

We welcome applications to join at 11+ at any point in the preceding 18 months of entry.

You are more than welcome to visit the school, and to meet the Headmaster for an informal conversation prior to application.
