At Leys Primary School, we welcome all parents who would like a tour of the school and a discussion about admission with Mrs Walters Admissions Lead or Mrs Ainsworth the Office Manager.

If your child was born between 1 September and 31 August , they can start school in September, and you should have applied for their place by Monday 15 January .

It’s important to know that getting your child a place at school is not an automatic process, so you still have to apply, even if they are already at a school nursery or they have a brother or sister at that school. Once you have applied they will contact you via email by 16th April 2024, you will then have until 30th April 2024 for your reply. Please ensure you do this or your application will be withdrawn and your child will not have a school place.

Starting Nursery

Children are usually admitted to Nursery shortly after their third birthday unless there is a waiting list due to nursery numbers being full.

The nursery will contact parents/guardians when a place is available in order to initiate transition and induction procedures. A list of children requiring a nursery place is kept by our Office Manager, Mrs Ainsworth, and so parents should give names to the school office staff at the earliest opportunity to ensure a place is allocated.

The current nursery capacity is for 26 children and children attend for half a day, either mornings or afternoons.

Miss Nicola Fagan is the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Lead Practitioner; Acting Deputy Headteacher and our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo). Any specific requests about curriculum for this key stage can be answered by her, via contacting the school office in the first instance.
