Belmont Infant School adheres to the Local Authority criteria for selecting pupils to attend the school, even Nursery children. See the criteria below.

We currently have a space in year 2 and no waiting list - please contact Haringey if you would like to be put on the list for this.

We carry out regular tours of the school so you can make an informed decision about where you send your child.

We will host tours on site both during the day and after school to ensure anyone can find a time. Where possible only one parent please.

Reception admissions
The application deadline is 15 January and National offer day will be 16 April. Parents will be able to view the digital viewbook online and asked to apply via e-admissions website.

Belmont Infants is a popular school and we often have more applications for places than we can accommodate. Unfortunately, this sometimes means that children who want to come to Belmont cannot be offered a place.

If your child is not offered the school of your choice, you do have the right to appeal. Before starting the process you will need to think carefully about why you want to appeal and apply directly to Haringey’s Admission Service, 48 Station Road, Wood Green, London N22 7TY.

Nursery admissions 
Priority for admission will be given to those children who meet the criteria set out below; this is for the 15 hours (5 mornings 9am – 12 noon or 5 afternoons 12.30 – 3.30pm) childcare that all 3-4 year olds are eligible for in England. We apply the same criteria for those eligible for 30 hours free childcare (see here for eligibility and how to apply

We have maximum capacity of eighteen ’30 hour’ spaces.

Criteria, in priority order:

• Children in care/ 'looked after' children: Children who are looked after by a local authority or were previously looked after but immediately after being looked after, became subject to an adoption, child arrangements, or special guardianship order. A looked after child is a child who is (a) in the care of a local authority, or (b) being provided with accommodation by a local authority in the exercise of their social services functions (see the definition in Section 22(1) of the Children Act 1989).
• Social medical: Children who the Authority accepts have an exceptional medical or social need for a place at one specific school. Applications will only be considered under this category if they are supported by a written statement from a doctor, social worker or other relevant independent professional. The information must confirm the exceptional medical or social need and demonstrate how this school is the only school that can meet the defined needs of the child.
• Brother or sister (sibling): Children with a brother or sister already attending the school or Belmont Junior school and who will still be attending on the date of admission. If a place is obtained for an older child using fraudulent information, there will be no sibling connection available to subsequent children from that family.
• Children of staff: Children of teaching staff of the school where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time of application and/or children of a member of staff who has been recruited to fill a vacancy for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
• Distance: Children whose home address is closest to the preferred school. Distance will be measured in a straight line from the Ordnance Survey address point of the child’s home to the Ordnance Survey address point of the school, calculated using the Haringey computerised mapping system.

Notes: Home address is defined as the child’s only or main residence;

• A sibling is a full brother or sister, a step/half brother or sister, a foster brother or sister or an adopted brother or sister living at the same address as the child for whom the application is being made;
• Priority for children of staff will be limited to one place for each form of entry in any year. Exception to this will apply to children of multiple birth or those born in the same academic year;
• Distance is measured in a straight line from the Ordnance Survey address point of the child’s home to the Ordnance Survey address point of the school.

Applying for a Year 3 place for Sept 
If your child was born between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017 and your child attends an Infant school, you will need to apply for a junior place at Belmont Juniors for September
