We are excited to welcome prospective parents and students to our school between 5.00-8.30pm on Thursday 28th September .
Visitors will have the opportunity to go on tours guided by our outstanding students who will be able to share what life is like at The Compton School and will provide answers to any questions about what it is like to study with us. Visitors will also meet our team of dedicated teachers and experience some of the exciting extra-curricular and enrichment activities that we have to offer. In addition, members of the Senior Leadership Team will be available throughout the evening in the Concourse. Please note that there is no need to book in order to attend the evening.
The Headteacher’s talks will be at 6.00 pm, 7.00 pm and again at 8.00 pm in the School Hall. A buzzer will sound five minutes before the talks are due to start and visitors should make their way to the Hall at that point as the doors to the hall will be closed once the talks start. Our talks will last approximately 20 minutes.
Please note that there is no parking on the school premises; visitors should park away from the school as roads become very congested.
The Compton School is a heavily oversubscribed, mixed comprehensive neighbourhood academy. It is non-selective and draws from its immediate community, currently just under one mile.
Our school admissions are coordinated by the Local Education Authority of Barnet.
All Year 7 to 11 applications to the school should be made through the child’s home local authority’s School Admissions portal (if Barnet, via Barnet School Admissions at School admissions | Barnet Council). The Local Authority will also able to advise you on other Barnet Schools.
Your child should be resident (in London/Barnet) at the time of the application so that if a place is offered, they can move quickly through the admissions process and start school as soon as possible. Places cannot be held open pending the arrival (or not) of a child from abroad. Applications can, however, still be made while the child is abroad, but, the address on the application should be the child’s actual/current address abroad. Once the child is in the country, proofs for the UK address should be notified to Barnet or the home local authority’s School Admissions so that it can be updated on the records.
Whilst we understand that you may like to view The Compton School before you commit to applying, unfortunately we do not have staff designated or available to give tours of the school outside of our October Open Evening period. Therefore, please feel free to explore the school website which will give you an excellent overview of the school and everything that goes on.
It is a criminal offence to provide false information to secure a school place. Any applications suspected of being fraudulent will be referred to London Borough of Barnet’s Corporate Anti-Fraud Team for investigation. If your application is proven to be fraudulent you may be prosecuted in addition to the school place being withdrawn.
