KAS aims to achieve a successful fit between the school and its students. The admissions procedure should allow the school to gain a realistic picture of the prospective student; and the student and parents to gain one of the school.

Points of entry

Childen can be registered for entry at most ages, with the exception of Year 11 & 13. The main point of entry is age 4 (Reception Class), with additional places available at age 11 (Year 7) and age 16 (Year 12)

The Procedure

The first stage is to complete an application form for the relevant point of entry and pay the non-refundable registration fee of £100. When the application is received, the child’s name will be then put on the waiting list but this does not guarantee a place.

Closing dates for Year 7 entry is by the end of September of the preceding year (when the child is entering the Year 6).

Closing dates for Reception and Year 12 entries are published each year.

For occasional places, when a place becomes available the school invites parents of students at the top of the waiting list to meet the Head of Lower or Upper School, as appropriate. The next stage is a visit and after this the school will decide whether or not to make a firm offer which will be subject to a time limit.

Entry at 4+

Registration
There are 40 places available each year in our two Reception classes, 20 children in each class. After returning a Reception Entry Application form, and paying the fee to register with the school, the child’s name will be added to the waiting list for their year of entry. The date of registration in relation to the child’s date of birth is an important consideration.

The Admission process – visits
In the Autumn Term of the year before the children are due to start Reception, the first 40 children on the waiting list (in terms of how old the children were when they were registered) are invited in for a visit to the school, in small groups, and their parents are invited for a talk with Karen, our Head of Lower School.

Reserve group visits take place in the Spring Term before September entry.

The application window for Year 7 places has now closed.
