Year 7 Admissions

If you wish to apply for a place for your child in Year 7 at Barnhill, you must complete an application form from your home Local Authority (where you pay council tax). You must also return the form to your Local Authority, not to the school. You can see the Hillingdon website here: London Borough of Hillingdon - School placements and admissions

Our next Open Evening for Year 7 students wishing to join our school will take place on Thursday 12 September from 4-7pm. You will be able to book your ticket through EventBrite and this website from June 24.

Appeals

Appeals will be heard and replied to within 10 days of receipt. If you wish to appeal, please complete the appeals form below and send it to cfranklin@barnhill.school.

The school’s statement of case will provide an explanation of how the admission of an additional child would cause prejudice to the provision of efficient education or efficient use of resources. This should/could include:

  • The Governor’s have consulted on their admission policy
  • The school’s net capacity
  • The impact on the school if another child were to be admitted
  • Health and Safety implications
  • No additional funding for an extra teacher
  • No extra resources i.e. desks, chairs

Decisions of the appeal panel will be notified in writing to the appellant(s), admission authority and signed by the clerk or chair of the appeal panel as soon as possible.

How To Apply

We are an over-subscribed Sixth Form with a limited number of places available. To offer adequate support and guidance to students in making appropriate subject choices; the deadline for applications to join Barnhill Sixth Form in September are as follows:

  • Applications for Year 11 Barnhill students: 15th December 
  • Applications for Year 11 students from other schools: 9th February

Entry Requirements and Subject Criteria

Students will need to perform exceptionally in a wide range of subjects at GCSE and also be able to evidence high standards of behaviour, punctuality and attendance in Year 11.

Students must achieve a minimum of 5 grade 9-4 at GCSE including English and Mathematics, with a minimum of a grade 6 at GCSE in that subject or a closely related subject for most A Level courses (some subjects require grade 7 at GCSE). All applications to Barnhill Sixth Form will be considered carefully and offers will only be made following a face to face meeting at Future Focus Evening and if pupils are likely to meet the entrance and subject criteria requirements.

Next steps

Once you have completed your application we will write to you with further details of Future Focus Evening in February and March where a member of the Senior Leadership Team or Post-16 Team will meet with you to discuss your subject choices and application further. Students will receive offer letters in March.

GCSE Results Day

We are open for further enquiries regarding enrolment from GCSE Results Day onwards to interview students who may have missed the previous application deadlines and wish to enquire about joining us. Attendance with proof of GCSE grades, home address and photo ID are required. Enrolment and school opening times are published in the 'Enrolment Information
