We manage in year admissions in Years 1 - 6 ourselves, once an In Year School Admission e-form is completed and submitted. Your application gets sent directly to us. A decision should be made within 10 school days, but can take up to 15 school days in some cases.
If your child is due to start primary school and lives in Islington, you must apply online. Admissions are managed by Islington Education Authority.
Our Nursery accepts children on the term after their 3rd birthday. We currently offer both 15 hours and 30 hours of childcare. To find out if you are eligible, please contact the school office.
Applications can be made at any time, including before the child’s 3rd birthday. The admission form can be found on our website (https://www.laycock.islington.sch.uk/parents/nursery-admissions) and should be returned to our school office.
Applications can be made at any time. We keep a waiting list with places prioritised in the following order:
Induction to Nursery
We have a structured induction programme for our Nursery children: a staggered start with a two week settling in period, careful planning of resources and gradual introduction of the class routines. We understand that every child is different and we work carefully with parents and carers to ensure that your child has the best start to their time in Nursery and can settle into the routines of Nursery.
In the Summer term, we have a structured transition programme for the children introducing them to the Reception teachers and their new classrooms, staff, as well as involvement in whole school initiatives and assemblies.
Apply for Tax-Free Childcare
Parents/ carers can get up to £500 every 3 months (up to £2,000 a year) for each of their children to help with the costs of childcare. This goes up to £1,000 every 3 months if a child is disabled (up to £4,000 a year).
If a parent/ carer gets Tax-Free Childcare, an online childcare account will be set up for your child. For every £8 paid into this account, the government will pay in £2 to use to pay your provider.
Parents/ carers can get Tax-Free Childcare at the same time as 30 hours free childcare if eligible for both.
To apply for a reception place, parents/ carers will need to apply online through the Local Authority (Islington) here www.islington.gov.uk/admissions. More information about applying for places can be found on the London Borough of Islington website here: https://www.islington.gov.uk/children- and-families/schools/apply-for-a-school-place/apply-for-a-primary-school-place
