As a voluntary-aided school, the governors of Bishop Gilpin are responsible for setting the school's admissions criteria, in line with the national School Admissions Code 2021, and reviewing these annually.
Open Mornings for Prospective Parents and Carers
We are delighted to announce the dates for our upcoming Open Mornings for Prospective Parents and Carers who are interested in applying for Reception or Nursery for.
If you would like to attend one of the Open Mornings, please book a place using the links below.
Each attendee will need to complete a separate form. Please note that to ensure effective safeguarding we will only be able to admit parents/carers who have registered in advance.
Our Open Mornings run from 9.00am to 11.00am and involve a presentation from the headteacher and a tour of the school.
Bishop Gilpin is a two-form entry primary school admitting 60 children to Reception each year. Up to 30 of the 60 places per year are available to Foundation Place applicants, please refer to the Admissions Policy for more information.
Parents wishing to apply for a place for their child(ren) should read our School's Admissions Policy carefully before completing the eAdmissions online application form. If you are not a Merton resident please apply through your home local authority.

Parents wishing to apply for a Foundation (Church) place should also complete a Supplementary Information Form.
In Year vacancies for places outside the normal admissions period will be co-ordinated by Merton Council. Please contact them on 020 8274 4906 or email admissions@merton.gov.uk.
You will need to complete an In Year Transfer Form, which can be found on the Merton Council Admissions website. If you are applying for a Foundation (church) In Year vacancy you will also need to complete a Supplementary Form.
Once the school has received the application details from Merton Admissions Department, the application will be ranked against the school’s current oversubscription criteria and placed on the relevant (Open/Foundation) waiting list accordingly.
If a place becomes available in your child’s year group and your application is at the top of the relevant waiting list you will receive an offer directly from the school within 10 school working days.
If no vacancy is available, you will be notified and your application will remain on the relevant waiting list for a full term. If you wish to remain on the waiting list thereafter, we request that you update the school on a termly basis.
