Admissions to Devonshire Nursery

If you wish your child to start nursery this academic year please call the school office directly.

Information on admissions to the Nursery in September

There is one main intake for the Nursery each year, which is in September in the Autumn term. The earliest that a child will normally be considered to join the Nursery is at the beginning of the September following their third birthday. It may, however, be possible for younger children to gain a place starting mid-way through the academic year, subject to the availability of places.

For an online application should be completed and submitted before the deadline of 15 January for those children to attend the Nursery from September . A link to the application can be found at the bottom of this page. The completed application is sent directly to the school.

If an application to attend Nursery was made last year, but the application was unsuccessful, another application must be completed and submitted before the deadline of 15 January for the child to attend the Nursery from September .

Children may be able to attend the Nursery at the start of the Spring term in January if there are places available at this point. An application must be completed and submitted by the deadline of 15 January .

There are 26 places in the morning session.

We do not offer 30-hour placements.

For children we will contact you by 30 April if your application has been successful. Please ensure that we always have your up to date details.

Please include evidence of your address with your application form - a current council tax bill, or if you are a council tenant - a copy of your tenancy agreement. Please also include evidence of any social/medical reasons that you wish to be considered.

Please contact the school if you would like to visit the Nursery or if you have any questions.

If you miss the deadline of 15 January, your application will be considered as a late application - please contact the school office for further guidance.

Information on admissions to Reception in September

Children may start school in the academic year after they turn 4 years of age, he or she will be eligible to apply for a place in Reception in September.

Children will start school in September in the Reception classes, although this will initially be for a shortened day. The school has 90 places available which are divided into 3 balanced classes of 30 children. Please let us know when you accept your child's place if there are any factors that you wish us to take into account when arranging the classes. We will consider all requests but cannot guarantee to meet them.

An application for admission can be made online at Applying for a primary school place (on the Sutton Local Authority website). Online applications are recommended and can be made now.

For full information about admissions arrangements, see School admissions (on the Sutton Local Authority website).

Please note that you must still apply for a place for entry into the school if your child has a place in the Nursery. No priority is given to children who are in the Nursery.

The application must be completed and submitted by the closing date.

Sutton Local Authority is responsible for dealing with the waiting list for entry into Reception. After the waiting list is closed, a new mid-term application must be completed to apply for a place.

For entry into the school other than into Reception in September as described above, please see below.

If you require further advice please contact the school or the admissions team at Sutton Local Authority (020 8770 5000) or admissions@sutton.gov.uk).

Please contact the school if you have any questions or if you would like to visit. The Headteacher gives regular tours of the school and to be included on one of these tours, please telephone the school office.

Other admissions to the school
