St Mary’s is a Voluntary Aided Federation in the Archdiocese of Southwark. It was opened to serve the Catholic community, in particular, the children of practising Catholic families living in the parishes of Holy Cross, Carshalton, Our Lady of the Rosary, Sutton, St Margaret’s, Carshalton Beeches, and Holy Family, Sutton Green.
Parents elect to apply for this school in order to ensure that the Catholic values and way of life are passed on to their children at home, in the parish and at school.
The Governors, having consulted with the London Borough of Sutton Education Authority, intend to admit 90 children for Reception per year and 52 places, 26 AM and 26 PM sessions for Nursery.
Nursery Admissions
Our Nursery class admits children in the academic year of their fourth birthday. The academic year runs from September to August. Parents need to apply the year before admission, in the academic year of their child's third birthday between September and 15th January.
Nursery places tend to be part-time with morning or afternoon sessions available, if they are ready for Nursery, children attend 5 mornings or 5 afternoons per school week. Full-time places are usually available, the number of places available can change according to demand.
Reception Admissions
Reception Year applications MUST be made through your local authority as well as sending a supplementary application form direct to the school. You can apply for all of our local authorities through the e-admissions website
Mid-Term Applications
If you are applying for a mid term admission please complete and return the Mid Term Supplementary Form and Priest/ Minister's Reference, along with a copy of your child's baptism certificate. The Mid Term Supplementary Form is available to download and print below.
When criteria 3 is oversubscribed by applicants, remaining places will be allocated to baptised children equated to the size of the parish using percentages. This ensures that children living in a parish where there is no school will have an equal chance of gaining a place. These percentages are calculated using Mass statistics collected in a census by each parish, which are submitted, to the diocese annually.
