Thank you for your interest in Wallington County Grammar School, a selective school for boys in Year 7 to Year 13; with female students being welcomed into the Sixth Form. In an attempt to become more environmentally friendly, we do not print a prospectus but have ensured all of the information you require can be found on this website. We would also encourage you to visit the school on our annual Open Evening to further enhance your knowledge. Please refer to the section entitled 'Open Evenings' for further information regarding our Transfer to Secondary School open evening held each July, and our Sixth Form open evening held each November.
There is also an online Virtual Tour of our premises available, which can be found in the 'About Us' section of this website.
Please ensure that you read the Schools Admissions Arrangements documents relevant to the year of academic entry for your child. This document will give you guidance on how places are offered and the different admissions bands we use for entry into Year 7.
We routinely accept students into Year 7 and Year 12. We also maintain non-ranked mid-term waiting list for years 7 to 11. Please refer to our Mid-Term Admissions section of this website for information on how to make a mid-term application.
If you have read all of the information supplied on this website and still have a question, please contact the Admissions Officer, by email: admissions@wcgs.org.uk who will endeavour to reply to your communication as soon as possible.

On 1st March (National Offer Day) you will receive notification from your home Local Authority whether or not you have been successful in being offered a place at Wallington County Grammar School.
If your son has been offered a place at our School: You will be emailed and asked to indicate whether you accept or decline the offer early in March from Wallington County Grammar School (WCGS). We ask that you always accept or decline any offer of a place with your Local Authority as well as informing the School.
Waiting List for Year 7
If your son was unsuccessful in being offered a placed at our school on National Offer Day in March 2023 but he reached the Wallington County Grammar School Selective Eligibility Test (SET) and Second Stage Test pass mark and you listed our school on your CAF as a higher preference than the school you have been offered by the Local Authority, then your son's details will automatically be placed on a ranked Year 7 waiting list at our school.
Waiting List positions
Year 7 waiting list positions will be emailed out to all parents/carers before the Easter break.
From National Offer Day on 1st March , all parents offered a place at our school will have a certain number of days in which to accept or decline their offer with their Local Authority. The Local Authority in Sutton will also then collate acceptances and declines from other Local Authorities in other boroughs, meaning that only after Easter in it may be likely that some additional offers for year 7 places will be made.
Please do not contact the School regularly to ask about revised waiting list positions as if your son reaches the top of this ranked waiting list and we have a vacancy we can offer him, the Admissions Officer will contact you to inform you of the vacancy that we can offer your son. The Admissions Officer will email out revised waiting list positions approximately every 2-3 months. Please be advised that this ranked waiting list for Year 7 entry will stay in operation until the end of the Autumn term in (it will only be cancelled at the earliest in December ).
Waiting list positions may go down as well as up (as some parents do occasionally wish to change their CAF preference priorities).
The amount of movement on the ranked year 7 waiting list can differ greatly each year, so it is very difficult to gauge whether your son is likely to be offered a place.
If your son's details are still on our ranked Year 7 waiting list after December but we have been unable to offer him a Year 7 place, the school will write to you to inform you when this ranked waiting list will be cancelled. At this time you will be given instruction on how to transfer your son's details to a non-ranked waiting list if you so wish, so if a future vacancy were to arise in your son's year group, he would be invited in to our school to sit a mid-term entrance test.
Appeals
If you have not been offered a place at Wallington County Grammar School and wish to appeal against this decision, please refer to the Appeals section of this website for further information. We ask that appeals be lodged within 20 School days from National Offer Day please (for the completed form and supporting documentation to be with the school) in order for all Year 7 appeals to be heard on the same day in the summer term.
