GCSE Results

OFQUAL recently announced further information on how GCSE grades will be awarded this year. This information can be found here

Your school will be able to explain in more detail how they will be implementing this process and what that means for you. However, I would like to reassure all students and their parents/carers that we will do everything possible to enable students to progress onto their preferred programme and that our approach is sympathetic to all those who have applied.

These are unprecedented circumstances and we are very aware that young people and their families are experiencing uncertainty and anxiety. We therefore do not want anyone to be worrying about their place at college at this time.

Pathway

As part of your Programme of Study, you will choose a pathways option. If you are following an A Level programme, you will have to choose a pathway option. If you are a BTEC student, this is optional. You can decide whether or not to consolidate what you are already doing by choosing a pathway related to your course, or you can choose to broaden your programme by choosing something from a different area, for instance, you may be a Science student, who wants to carry on with their Art, or a Psychology student, who wants to do Sports.

How to Apply

A Levels, Vocational, Certificates

If you are applying from a school or college, give your completed application form to the person responsible there (usually a Head of Year or Careers staff). They will then complete your reference and send the form to us.

Restarting/continuing with Studies

If you are applying to restart or continue your studies with us, you will need to enclose a letter with your application form, explaining why you would like to do so. Your application must include an up to date reference from your last school or college and your GCSE grades.

Costs

There will be a £50 charge of reprographics fees which will need to be paid at enrolment but there are no course fees if you are under 19 on August 31st prior to the start of your course and you are a ‘home student’ (that is, you have been resident in Britain or the EU for three years before your course begins). The college does not accept overseas applications.

Books and Materials

Basic textbooks are provided free. Students may buy any extra text and materials if they wish.

Interview

At the interview, we will make you a provisional offer of a college place, if we can, and usually attach conditions (such as five grade 9 - 4 GCSE passes)

Please ensure you

  • Bring your invitation letter with you
  • Plan enough time for your journey. You don’t need to phone us if you are going to be slightly delayed, but we are likely to have to rearrange your interview if the time extends to an hour or more.
  • Phone or email to inform us as soon as possible, if you are unable to attend your interview – contact details will be provided in your invitation letter (and are the same as those at the bottom of this page).
  • Bring any items with you that are requested in your invitation letter.

ENROLMENT

In July we will write to you with a date and time for enrolment, which starts in August. You will need to bring your exam results slips. If you still have some questions feel free to contact our Admissions Department on 020 4538 6430 or [email protected].
