It is important to choose the right school for your child.
We encourage you to contact our Registrar who will be happy to give you an initial picture of life at Finton House, as well as explain the admissions process to you and answer any questions you may have.
Finton House has a policy of non-selective entry and places are offered on a first come, first served basis, with no interview or assessment. Parents are advised to register for Reception places as soon as possible after the birth of their child. Up to 60 places are offered each year, half to girls and half to boys.
To ensure that children born in the Summer do not miss out on places, two entrance lists are opened for every academic year: half the places go to children born between 1 September and 28 February, and the other half to children born between 1 March and 31 August. When the Entrance list is full, subsequent applicants are placed on a Reserve list. All children joining Reception start school in September.
Occasional Vacancy places are sometimes available for children outside of the main entry point, and parents are encouraged to contact the Registrar.

Reception Entry: children start school in September after they turn four.
Reception Registration: Please complete the form below. We will request a non-refundable registration fee of £100 for each child and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis from birth. There is no assessment or interview for Reception entry. We offer up to 60 places each year (50% girls, 50% boys).
Early registration is advised to secure a place and you will be added to either Finton’s Entrance or Reserve List. Current siblings, staff children and Old-Fintonians will have priority for entry to Reception. Once the Entrance List has been filled, subsequent applicants are placed on a Reserve List. Please do not be concerned if you are placed on the Reserve List, a usual Reception intake is comprised of 50/50 Entrance and Reserve list pupils.
The status of the registration lists for Reception classes (4+) is as follows:
Reception Offer Process: Places are offered 18 months prior to the year of entry. A deposit of £2,500 will be required to secure your place at Finton House and is not refundable if you decide to withdraw the place.
Occasional Vacancies (year groups outside of Reception): A few places may become available for entry into Finton for Years 1 to 5, including entry mid-year. Typically, these children will be invited to attend an individual assessment and join a class of the appropriate age for lessons, playtime and lunch over the course of a day.
