Admission into Reception at the age of 4 is non-selective. All children who join Reception each September will automatically transfer through the school until they leave at the end of Year 6. From September the school is accepting girls into Reception.
All children at the The Mall Nursery automatically receive an offer of a place in Reception which must be confirmed with an acceptance deposit due 12 months before start.
For children not in the nursery we make Reception offers 18 months prior to start date with acceptance deposit due 12 months before start. The first 20 children registered for each year of entry will be guaranteed the offer of a place; all subsequent registrations will be placed on a waiting list.
As we are non-selective for entry into Reception, if you are keen for your child to join us at age 4, we do recommend registering them as soon as possible as we are already receiving registrations for entry into the school between.
Reception update – limited number of immediate (in-year) places available

Reception update – now allocating places in order of receipt of acceptance deposit
We have been delighted with the interest we have already received for our Reception 2024 class with the level of acceptances already much higher than they were this time last year for our 2023 class. As the deadline for acceptances for families who registered by 1 March has now expired, we are now assigning places in order of acceptance, regardless of date of registration. If you are keen for your child to join we would strongly recommend completing the admissions process (receipt of acceptance form and payment of deposit) to secure their place.
Once we reach 20 children we will have to revert to a waiting list while we consider the viability of opening a second class.
If you would like to arrange an individual visit to the school for a tour with Year 6 pupils and meeting with Headmaster, David Price, please do get in touch to arrange a mutually convenient time.
We are currently accepting registrations for children not attending our nursery. The first 25 children registered will receive an offer of a place on 1 March 2024 and will have until 31 August 2024 to accept the place. All subsequent registrations will be placed on a waiting list.
We are already accepting registrations for entry for boys and girls into Reception at the school for 2025 to 2027 and encourage families looking for these entry points to make an appointment to visit us for an individual tour, especially if you are not planning to send your son or daughter to our nursery, as places will be offered to these children on a first-come-first-served basis withthe first 20 children registered receiving offers 18 months prior to entry.
Once you register with us, you will be invited to regular events designed to give you and your child lots of opportunities to get to know us and make the settling in process when they start at school as smooth as possible. After you confirm your Reception place, you will start to receive our weekly e-newsletters and attend a series of events to help prepare your child for starting school and to get to know the other families in your year group.
Year 3 (7+) 2024 entry
We are now accepting registrations for Year 3 (7+) entry in September .
All children registered by Wednesday 1 November will be invited to come in for an assessment during the week commencing Monday 13 November. Children will spend time with Year 2 pupils in their lessons as well as carrying out individual assessments in maths and English. We like the children to come in on a normal school day so that they can experience school life and we have plenty of time to get to know them in both classroom and social environments.

We currently have places in other year groups, including Reception, subject to a successful assessment during a taster day with us.
