We know that choosing the best private school for your child is one of the most important decisions any parent has to make. Our open events are a wonderful opportunity to view the school.
We hold termly open events, and our next event will be a Whole School Open Morning on Thursday 1st February at 9.15am. To find out more information about our Open Events,
Happily, we are able to offer individual Pre-Prep and Prep School visits to meet with our Headmaster, Mr Barrett during the school day, for those families looking for Reception entry, or entry into the current cohort.
This visit will involve a walk-and-talk tour with Mr Barrett so you can see the school as it functions day-to-day. Please phone Mrs Joanna Marshall if you would like to arrange an individual visit or discuss the school admissions process call: 020 8979 6216.
We are also offering the opportunity to speak with Mrs Barnes, Head of Pre-Prep about how the teaching and learning in Pre-Prep works, how the transition to Reception is managed, and to answer any other questions that you may have.
Please also follow our social media accounts, as we will continue to keep these filled with lots of information about the school.
To register your child for Reception, our private school admissions application form (available from the Admissions office) should be completed and sent to us with a £100 registration fee. The application form must be signed by both parents.
When we receive this, we will send you an acknowledgement that your child is on the Entry List. Forms are also available when visiting the school. Please contact Mrs Marshall to request a form via email on: admissions@twickenhamprep.co.uk.
Parents of pupils registered at the school will receive a letter 18 months before they are due to start school. In order to secure a child’s place on the Entry List, parents will be asked to sign an acceptance form confirming acceptance of the school terms and conditions and to pay a deposit of £1000.
The deposit is non-refundable if your child does not take up a place. For pupils joining the school, the deposit will be retained by the school until it is credited without interest to the final invoice on your child’s leaving. The level of deposit is in line with all public schools, and subject to an annual review.
Because we are a selective school, for entry into Year 3 we hold an annual 7+ Assessment Morning in the Autumn Term before the year of entry. Please call Mrs Marshall on 020 8979 6216 for more information.
Prior to the 7+ assessment morning, we will invite all those on the waitlist for Year 2 and Year 3, asking for registration documents and a £100 registration fee to confirm the child’s attendance.
The assessment will run for the morning only and will cover Maths, English and Reasoning. Activities will be carefully explained at the start of each session so lack of experience of formal test conditions will not disadvantage the children.
The assessment is as much to determine suitability to the school, in terms of attitude, potential and effort, as it is simply to determine current academic ability.
At TPS, we don’t take on an additional class into Year 3 and so regrettably we are unable to offer many places – indeed we have had years when just one or two places are available. We endeavour to inform parents of the outcome of the assessment as soon as we reasonably can.
There is no placement as such on the waitlist for entry into Year 3 as we offer any spaces that arise on the basis of the 7+ assessment results.
Entry at other than age 4+ is possible only if places are available. To enquire, prospective parents of applicants should please contact Mrs Marshall and the method of entry will be explained to you. Email: admissions@twickenhamprep.co.uk Phone: 020 8979 6216.
Early Education Funding
The school participates in the Early Education Funding Scheme operated by the Local Authority, in conjunction with the DfE, to provide all 4 year olds with 15 (or 30 if eligible) hours of free education per week.
Bursary Information
The School grants means-tested bursaries into Year 7 and 8, and occasional bursaries to pupils who may not otherwise have the opportunity to receive an independent school education, or whose parents have suffered sudden financial difficulties. Application forms for financial assistance can be obtained from the Business Manager. All bursaries are reviewed annually.
