Nursery Admissions

Information for the September intake will be uploaded soon.If your child was born between 1st September and 31st August they will be eligible to start our school nursery from September .

We will be offering both 15 hours per week (am or pm) and 30 hours per week, Monday – Friday only. We do not offer part weeks. Hours are as follows:-

  • Universal morning session – 8.30am – 11.30am
  • Universal afternoon session – 12.15pm – 3.15pm
  • 30 hour provision extended offer – 8.30pm – 2.30pm

Additional extended day for 30 hour

  • children only – 8.30am – 3.15pm (£4 per session – £20 per week)

Every child is entitled to 15 hours free early years entitlement from the term after their 3rd birthday and 30 free hours to those families that are eligible. For further advice see the following Government website https://www.gov.uk/30-hours-free-childcare

Admissions to our school nursery will be determined by the Governing Body. All preferences listed will be considered on an equal basis and, where there are more applications than the number of places available, we will apply the schools admissions criteria.Please indicate on the application form what nursery provision you would prefer. Once we have collated all of the information and applied our admissions criteria, we will be to confirm if your child has been offered a place.

To apply for a place, you need to complete a Nursery Admissions form and a Nursery Application form, and return them to the school office along with the supporting documentation

  • and a recent utility bill

You can access a form from the school office, or electronically by emailing enquiries@st-austins.co.uk The deadline for submitting your application form to school is Friday 10th February.

Reception Admissions

Our admission number for September is 60. To apply for St Austin’s reception class for September you must complete a school application form and return to school by 15th January, without this form your application cannot be considered.

We require 3 supporting documents with your form,

  • birth certificate
  • baptism certificate
  • utility bill less than 3 months old providing proof of residence.

Applications cannot be accepted at school without all these documents. When you submit your full application, a receipt will be issued from the school office.

In addition to the form above, you must make an application to the Local Authority.If you ‘Apply for Reception and Secondary Year 7’ this will take you through the process step by step. Local Authority Admissions Website.

We will be holding 4 meetings for parents/carers to have a look around the school and collect all the relevant forms.There will be a maximum of 2 adults per child allowed to attend, and strictly no children are allowed on this occasion. You must book a place at one of these meetings via our school office on 0151 427 1800 or email enquiries@st-austins.co.uk

  • Tuesday 7th November – 9.15am – 10.15am Wednesday 15th November – 9.15am – 10.15am
  • Wednesday 22nd November – 9.15am – 10.15am Tuesday 9th January – 4.30pm – 5.30pm

You can collect the relevant information at the school office or email enquiries@st-austins.co.uk to request a form electronically. There is a maximum of 30 adults per meeting. You will be shown around the school by our year 6 children.For parents/carers who already have a child in school, you do not need to attend these meetings if you do not wish to – you can collect the relevant information at the school office or email enquiries@st-austins.co.uk and we can email you the form.

Secondary School Admissions

To all our year 6 Parents/Carers If your child is in year 6 from September, you are now ready to apply online for a secondary school place for September

Step 1: Preparation

  • Go to the school open evenings
  • Take a checklist along with you of questions you want to ask.
  • Collect information either from school or from Internet:
  • School prospectus
  • School profile
  • Ofsted report
  • School website
  • Performance tables – available from www.direct.gov.uk
  • Include your child
  • Ask for and consider their opinions and ideas

Stepp 2: Decision

  • Check how closely your child fits the Admission Criteria or Policy – each school has a policy – BE REALISTIC
  • Over subscription criteria – this is applied if there are more applicants than places
  • Remember schools criteria differ. For example, community schools apply different criteria to faith schools

Liverpool City Council Admissions

  • If you are an ‘out of city’ resident you must apply to your home authority, e.g. Knowsley, Sefton,etc
  • This applies no matter which Primary School your child attends or Secondary School you are interested in
  • You can name schools in other authorities on Liverpool’s application form
  • Check if the schools you are interested in need a direct application. For example, faith schools and academies. These forms are additional to the local authority application

Important:

  • Apply on time
  • Keep copies of all receipts
  • Keep your e-mail address active

In-Year Transfers

We warmly welcome all children to our school.For parents/carers of children who are currently in another school, and wish to apply for St Austin’s as an ‘in-year’ transfer are advised to contact the school office on 0151 427 1800 or email enquiries@st-austins.co.uk for further advice and information about vacancies, and how to apply.
