Year 7 Admissions
To apply to The Belvedere Academy, parents or guardians of prospective students will need to complete and return:
- The Preference Form/ Common Application Form provided by Liverpool Children’s Services or other local authorities
- The Belvedere Academy application form should be completed online via the academy website
Process of application
Applications for places at the academy will be made in accordance with Liverpool LA’s co-ordinated admission arrangements.
Parents or guardians must name the academy as a preference on the online application or paper preference form which they should submit to their home local authority. In addition, parents or guardians must complete the Belvedere application form, provided by the academy.
Music Specialism
The Belvedere Academy will allocate 10% of the available places (18 places) to those children who demonstrate an aptitude to learn Music. Parents or guardians who would like their daughter to be considered for a Music specialism place need to declare this on the online application form, as this is an opt-in test. Applicants wishing to be considered for a Music specialism place will need to sit an additional 30 minute, multiple choice, listening test.
Process of application
- Attend the Sixth Form Open Evening in January, which includes a presentation by the Principal and members of the Sixth Form Team. Complete an online application form, which is available on the academy website www.belvedereacademy.net
- Internal and external applicants may be invited to attend an advisory meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss option choices in order to ensure each individual applicant is choosing the pathway which is right for them.
- Offer letters are sent out following the advisory meetings. All places offered will be subject to achieving 32 points in the student’s best eight subjects and meeting subject entry requirements.
Results Day
Applicants must have their Sixth Form place and choice of courses confirmed on GCSE day, so should attend the academy and bring their GCSE results paperwork with them. If applicants are unable to attend in person to confirm their place please contact the academy for further advice.
Requests to Re-sit Year 12
The academy recognises that, in extenuating circumstances, a student may wish to re-sit Year 12. Any request to re-sit Year 12 must be put in writing and addressed to the Head of Sixth Form for consideration.
Arrangements for Admission Appeals
- Parents or guardians have the right to an independent appeal if they applied to and have been refused a refused a place at the academy and are dissatisfied with the school allocated to their child.
- he appeals panel and clerk will be independent to the academy.
- Following guidance, the academy will hold appeal hearings remotely via video or telephone conference. Parents/Guardians should speak to the academy if internet access is problematic for them.
- The determination of the appeals panel will be made in accordance with the Code of Practice on School Admission Appeals and is legally binding on all parties.
Appeal Process
- Any queries related to the above process should be directed to Julie Collin, Administration Manager, at the academy.
- The parent/guardian should contact the academy office 0151 727 1284 to ask for the appeal paperwork to be sent out.The parent/guardian should return the completed appeal paperwork and any supporting evidence to the academy by 12 noon on Tuesday, 2nd April.
- When the paperwork is received back at the academy an acknowledgement email will be sent to the parent/guardian – if you do not receive an acknowledgement within 10 working days, you should contact the academy to check that your appeal has been received.
- A letter detailing the time/date of the appeal will be sent out to parents/guardians after the Spring break.
- The appeal hearings will be held over several days, beginning Monday, 13th May (this date may be subject to change).
