School Admissions Information

Please find our Admissions Policies on the Create Partnership Trust website here. The information below provides specific guidance in respect of this school.

How to apply for a Reception place

Applications for entry to reception class in Current Year September. If you have not made an application by 11:59pm on 13 August you will need to apply directly to the school from 1 September using the In Year Application form. Applications for entry to reception class in next year September will open on 1 October.

School age - when can your child start school?

Reception is the first year of primary school. It comes after Nursery, but before Year 1. Children in Birmingham can go to school (Reception) in the September after their 4th birthday.

When to apply

Parents can apply for a place in the Autumn of the year before their child turns 4 years of age. It’s important that you apply for a place as soon as possible:

  • Attendance at a nursery class doesn’t give a child automatic priority for a place
  • Don’t wait until your child is 5 years old, or your preferred school may already be full

You can list up to 3 preferred schools when you apply.

If you wish to look around the school prior to making a decision on which school is best for your child then please contact the school office who will be happy to book an appointment for you.

In-Year Admissions

If you wish your child to move to Hodge Hill Primary in the middle of a school year then you must contact the school office.

Secondary School Admissions (for Year 6 Pupils)

You must submit an online application form by 31 October. You will receive an email confirmation that you have submitted your application form. Please ensure to check your SPAM or Junk folder. It is important that you check your confirmation email to make sure everything is correct. You can amend your preferences right up to 11.59 pm on the closing date (31 October).

Waiting lists will be created three weeks following the offer of school places. Your child’s name will be automatically added to the waiting list for any higher preference schools than the one offered (unless your child did not achieve a high enough score in the grammar school selection test). Being on a waiting list does not mean that a place will become available.

Grammar School Admissions

If your child will be sitting the selective test for entry to grammar schools, we strongly recommend that you do not submit your online application until you know the results of your child's grammar school test. The test results for The Grammar Schools in Birmingham will be available before 31 October. We are aware that with Grammar Schools in other Local Authorities you may not receive your test scores after the closing date to apply for your preferences (31 October). However, online applications must be submitted by 31 October to be classed as on time. Therefore, please ensure that if you are applying for a Grammar School in another Local Authority you include it as a preference on your application.
